^ those are extra stories, and from what I know, they are like “post-game” content because they happen after the end of the WN
more can be discussed in the WN/LN thread: https://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=131866

By itself, I'd say that a "cheat" is neither good nor bad for the plot. After all, how many non-isekai shows start with the MC gaining some special ability or item for "reasons"? Quite a lot. On the other hand, the concept of such things has generally moved on quite a bit and instead of those "reasons" being some throw-away thing that is then forgotten it's actually part of the greater plot. Meaning it's not some isolated random event. This is where I think the whole "cheat" thing fails most often - not that it's outlandish or questionable but that it has no particular meaning. It doesn't tie into the plot or world-building or character - it's just there because it needs to be there because the author wanted to write about it. In non-isekai shows the "cheat" would often have some plot or character significance, either in terms of having a negative aspect by itself or causing third parties to target the MC. So from this point of view, hinting at the start of the "slime" anime that this is neither random nor something to be forgotten is a good thing. Another common problem I'd say with the whole "cheat" thing is that very often it allows the MC to quickly build up a whole array of abilities and the original cheat itself is actually rather overshadowed and lost in the noise. It often feels like the nature of the cheat itself barely matters since before long the MC is simply overpowered across the board in the same way as many other overpowered MCs. So I think the way that the anime emphasises some things like Great Sage is good. On the other hand, our MC is still racking up new abilities at a rapid rate, particularly thanks to original cheat Predator. Still, it's pretty hard to miss the fact that the MC is a slime meaning you don't forget about the background too easily. Anyway... so far so good for the anime. To date I'd say it's better than the source material. I hope it keeps it up. |

Episode 4
Lol, Rimuru and his delusions about elf girls. On a more serious note, we got to witness more powers this episode. Ranga is also quite a badass. Got to see more of the fantasy world including the Dwarf Kingdom. I have to admit, this show has quite a bit of high fantasy elements and races. Dwarves with blacksmith skills is definitely something that seems credible in this show. Those dwarve guys are actually kinda awesome if ask me. Elves also making their appearance and I think Rimuru is quite pleased with that LOL

Episode 4 - Fanmade Status Screen for Rimuru Tempest
Status Name: Rimuru Tempest (Satoru Mikami in previous life) Race: Slime Sex: n/a Titles: [Little One], [Unique], [Otherworld Reincarnator], [Friend of the Storm Dragon], [Equal to the Storm Dragon], [Strong One], [Master of the Monster Village], [Instant Copy-Smith], [Hugpillow of the Elves] Skills:
Although I usually assume that Rimuru never uses up everything out of raw materials he has and that he always keeps at least one sample, I don't think it's particulary neccessary to mention him possibly keeping a Longsword for himself. It's very likely the Great Sage "saved" the blueprint and can reproduce it again whenever neccessary, as long as the materials are available. Also in case you didn't notice: The Armorsaurus mentioned in the episode is the same species as the second monster Rimuru defeated back in the cave in episode 2 (the one that got dissolved by poison breath). Note that the one that the Dwarves encountered is probably weaker than the one Rimuru encountered, since the one killed by Rimuru was born very close to Veldora and was probably born with more magicules. Compare that to how the Black Serpent in the forest during the OP was bleeding after being killed, while the Black Serpent that Rimuru killed in episode 2 inside the cave was NOT bleeding, suggesting that more "magically charged" monsters rely more on magic power than physical aspects to live. Monsters seem to be strongly affected by the amount of magicules in their living environment.

I thought it was funny. Maybe they were referencing another title with that screenshot. You also had Deedlit and LoliDragon (i think?) making a cameo appearance.
