Not much care that i do as well but what perk my interest is she can't be touched by Government even Cipher Pol can't do anything against her. She was, after all the only reliable giant supplier to the WG. John Giant is the first giant to join Marines.

I have to say, that unlike other villains I don't care one bit about Big Moms backstory. She is just a spoiled brat with too much power and a blackhole for a stomach, of anything her backstory made me hate her even more. If anything, I feel sorry for the people and kids that died due to her gluttony. As for Mother Carmel well... She was a bitch, but so is karma.

Dont know if you noticed... The semla starts getting bigger at one point and crunching sounds also starts to get introduced halfway....

Are we supposed to feel more sympathy for Big Mama with her backstory? All I feel is that this gluttonous cannibal deserves to be put down for the safety of humanity. She and Akainu are the ones that deserve death more than anyone else in One Piece, so far. Even the Celestial Dragons are as detestable.

As for the preview, Germa 66 didn't show as that powerful when stacked against Sanji, yet they are going to overwhelm Big Mom's pirates while Luffy, his nakama, and Capone Bege can't? Consistency, please, Oda-sensei...

I don't know about sympathy, I think we're just supposed to get a sense of why Big Mam's so dangerous, selfish and immature. And also why the giants hate her so much.

Anyway, if she devoured Mother Carmel and gained her power, that raises some interesting questions. We already know that eating devil fruits is how most people gained their power, but where DO devil fruits come from, anyway? They have stems, so we might have assumed we saw a tree or bush or something a long time ago but that never happened. Could this all mean that a DF is somehow extracted from the corpse of the person who ate it? This is supported by Blackbeard somehow being able to extract Whitebeard's DF power after his death. However it doesn't explain how Ace's DF ended up in a faraway land like Dressrosa, so maybe it's something that can only be done for a limited time?

EDIT: come to think of it, what happened to Ace's body after he died? Did they abandon it at Marineford or did they bring it to that island where Luffy trained and actually bury it there? I can't remember.

I don't feel sympathy for Big Mom though, since she basically rule with an Iron Fist. Those who can't obey or comply with her will meet up with death.

Ace's body is on the same island as where Shirohige are buried. Shanks and Marco did bring their bodies out from Marineford and bury it there.

We had a sneak peak at the process back in Punk Hazard after Smiley died and a nearby apple turned into it's Sara Sara no Mi fruit. I personally believe that Devil Fruits transfer after death to the nearest fruit in the world closest to the Devil Fruit's original fruit... like Smiley's being an apple. Again, just a theory. Ace's Devil Fruit I don't believe appeared in Dressrosa, I just think that Doflamingo's resources and connections were able to find it out in the Grand Line and bring it to Dressrosa for him.

As for Blackbeard, I think there was a reason he was specifically looking for the Yami Yami no Fruit. Considering everything he did just to get the fruit, I'm gonna assume that specific Devil Fruit has some sort of ability to extract Devil Fruit from users, who knows.

Ah right, it's been 5 years since that happened so I totally forgot.

I thought it just sprouted directly from the corpse but if that apple was just a plain apple that happened to be nearby then a transfer would make sense.

Of course I could also see a couple of other possibilities saying this was not a normal occurrence. One is that Smiley was not a living creature but a ball of gas that had been fed a Zoan fruit which gave it some kind of amphibian body. So when it "died" all it did was lose its power and return to being what it was, which is how Caesar intended to use it. The transfer could have happened like that because there was literally no "corpse" to speak of. The power was just lost and immediately transferred to the nearest fruit. The other possibility is that it only works this way for Zoan fruit and maybe Paramecia and Logia are different. I mean when you think about how long Whitebeard was dead, if it had worked the same way it did with Smiley then the Devil Fruit would already have shown up somewhere before Blackbeard could even put on his big performance.

I don't know, I guess the only real reason I'm sticking to this theory is because everyone so far has said that Devil Fruits taste disgusting. If they were literally human flesh that would certainly make them more savory than just transforming from a normal fruit.

That was just disgusting how animated that fight was. Holy balls. Luffy pulled out like 3 new moves in a single episode and they were all incredible. I haven't seen something that crisp since Enies Lobby.

Also Luffy addressed him as "Katakuri." Was this episode the first time he's done that? I feel like he's been calling him "mochi guy" or "you" up until now.

Side note, glad to hear Sawashiro is back doing Pudding's voice again.
