Why do either need explaining? They're just personality traits.
In any case, no for Kaguya. For Kurumi, its vaguley alluded to in V16, yes.

It could have been an opportunity for character development, such as finding out why Kaguya thought that being a chuuni would do her any good. Otherwise the personality trait feels tacked on.

By the way, Kana Hanazawa was in this episode too (unlike Maaya Uchida) and she's pretty good with chuunibyou roles, like Kobato Hasegawa from Haganai.

I don't think it feels tacked on at all. It's clearly just part of her personality, like Nia being a pervert or Yoshino being quiet.

I suppose Nia's pervertedness could be partially explained due to it being part of the whole otaku stereotype. Yoshino being quiet with cripplingly low self-esteem, to the point that she needs an imaginary friend with her at all times, should have been explained through an origin story at least.

Looks like Inverse Origami's powers/feelings were so strong she ended up crossing over into the new timeline as an alternate "personality" for this Origami.

Natsumi is turning out to be a great addition to the harem. Her personality coupled with her powers provide a lot of fun.

So, if Kotori was acquainted with Origami in this timeline as well, how did she not recognize her in that photo of Inverse Origami?

Another thing I found odd was Kotori expressing surprise that Natsumi had knowledge of school life. Given the Miku precedent, doesn't she know that she is not the only human turned spirit? Don't tell me they never bothered to interrogate the girls... You'd think finding out more about spirits and their origins would be one of their priorities.

Well in the Light Novel, when Kotori showed Shido the picture of Devil, it wasn’t as clear as it was in the anime, being described in the LN roughly as ‘a human figure covered in darkness, with it not being possible to clearly see her face’

As for the second thing without going into spoilers for anime only people, pretty sure it’s because Kotori thinks her and Miku are the exceptions not the norm, with the others always having been Spirits
