Nice episode. Gotta give props to the author showing his research there. Blocking off escape routes and starving them out is pretty much medieval siege tactics 101. Was also pretty great to see Eren and Reiner duke it out and show all the MMA shit the author loves so much. The thunder spears are pretty cool too, though I can only wonder what means for Annie.

Thunder Spears
Is there anything you want to covet that no matter what you'll commit your very soul and body with every inch of your life?
Is that called obsession? Would you be called obstinate and a fool for committing and sacrifcing everything you got to reach that goal, and yet you fear it might turn out an unreacheable task at the end? Will the outcome earn you self-fullfillment? or do the incurring costs would have become insurmountable turning victory into bitter and self-defeating achievement? What can be certain is that the true fools commit every being of their existence to reach for their answers and to reach the goals they have set their sights upon. Erwin Smith is a true fool as all the sacrifices he has incurred from the day he joined the Scouts until this moment, that marks the decisive Battle for Shinganshina, have led him into the heart of the crossroads. He stands just a mere steps to uncover the secrets lying underground in Grisha Yeager's basement, but there's still just one more hazardous trek being zealously guarded by Reiner and his cohorts. Just one more step, and Erwin Smith knows better than anybody that hesitation and regret cannot be afforded anymore. Whether his outstretched hand will grasp the truth he has been coveting all of his life or not, nonetheless, Erwin Smith is a fool deserving of respect for leading his people breaking through impossible odds along the journey and still standing with their feet firmly on the ground, in spite of enduring massive losses of comrades. _____________________ Ah, science springs from imagination which imagination in turn comes to life when the mind opens up into a world of endless possibilities. To see the Oceanus one must venture into the outside world beyond the walls, to leave the walls one must break the shackles of conformism, to release yourself from those shackles one must cultivate a sense of greed to set goals challenging enough to invest yourself at undertaking them, and in order to do that one must cultivate imagination by opening the mind to different perspectives. Humanity begins at resuming the long journey into a new world, that of science. Behold, the first real attempt toward harnessing technology, the Thunder Spear. The lightning rod piercing literally through the tough skin of the Armored Titan with devastating results. Courtesy of Hange Zoe to come up with such deadly weapon.
