Because they have the most unpopular leader in the history of British polling. Because while the Tories are consolidating the Leave vote, Labour’s refusal to commit to Remain has splintered that vote. Because Corbyn believes he can be neutral (not that there’s any doubt that he’s a Brexiteer) on the most important issue facing the UK in a generation.

Corbyn is in the freaking opposition! How can he lose against a government that runs for over ten years and is lead by a lying clown!? Well, this projection might ofc still be wrong but the difference is so stark that the Tories got it in the bag even if the projection was wrong by a couple dozen MPs. Also SNP expected to get 55 out of 59 Scottish seats? Wow. If that happens and Boris stays leader then Scotland will get more and more pushed (by Boris) and pulled (by SNP) to leave the UK. And if that happens we can hardly call it the UK anymore.

Going to be interesting to see how Boris runs things now. Will he push hard to consolidate his (apparent) landslide victory into something more permanent or will he play to the traditional Tory base? I doubt he's dumb enough to do the latter, even if he makes a good impression of a buffoon.
Meanwhile, now that Brexit is basically a done deal, how much of a dog's breakfast is it going to be in practice? |

Well then, here we are.
Hard Brexit it is. SNP also won almost every seat in Scotland. So Indy2ref is happening as well this time. In any case, now the UK can move the hell on from the clown show, and the EU can finally make plans for what its going to do in the future.

There is no way Johnson does a hard Brexit when he got "a deal in the oven". Though given what his deal includes it is just one step short of a hard Brexit. And there is still no way they can get a "good trade deal" in 11 months with the 3rd rate staff they got when other bigger and better prepared countries talked with the EU for 3-5 years for trade deals.
Man, Labour lost at all fronts, even at places where they never lost before. You'd think the voter wanted to punish Labour and not the Tories for the madness of the past 3 years not forgetting the austerity of the 6 years before those years.

I guess I should have clarified I meant by "Hard Brexit" that "one step short of a Maximum Brexit" rather than the worst possible crash out.
And yeah, aside from Boris getting his mandate now, getting a good trade deal of any type isn't happening anyways. Labour's result was ... expected. I didn't have much faith in this Labour to actually win any election at this stage, and I wasn't really thinking they were about to change at this stage either. The manner that Labour handled the campaigning was really awful, and this result is to be expected. SNP really is the biggest winner here, since they are getting what they want out of this. And the EU I suppose. RIP N. Ireland, about to go the way of Gibraltar.

Either Corbin have come to his senses, either the party decided to can him. In any case, good riddance

“There is a mandate now to offer the people of Scotland the choice over our own future,”
“Boris Johnson may have a mandate to take England out of the European Union. He emphatically does not have a mandate to take Scotland out of the European Union. Scotland must have a choice over our own future.” Sturgeon told Sky News. https://t.co/4Fi3TioeTW No surprise here. For comparison SNP won 80% of Scotland's votes. I suspect a possible Irish border will have consequences as well.

Yeah, it won't happen. Johnson will just refuse to give Scotland a 2nd Indyref which will push more scots voting SNP because it clearly shows that Scotland is not treated as an equal when having a different opinion. After all they do represent 48 our of 59 constituencies, Johnson saying "fuck you" to that is a real blow to Scottish voter opinions. Not that he cares about that after those loses up there.
But sooner or later it will come down that there gonna have to be another indy because most people in scotland don't like Brexit, they don't like Johnson and they don't like the Tories, so the Union they are in is ruled and heading into a direction against their will. That's not helpful for the Union's future because sooner or later it shows this isn't an Union but England leading the other three countries however it wants. In other words Scotland, Wales and NI are just vassals whereas England is the only "real country" that truly matters in the Union. Heck, even the Wales Nationalists had an increase in their vote share. Shame about the Libdems but they behaved stupidly, so they earned it. Raised up to 11+% after 7,4% last time in voteshares yet lost one MP from 12 to 11. I really don't get this stupid system the UK got for voting or why British people are content with it.
