Gundam names (and why?)

Now that I think about it, it would be nice if the Gundams were given the same naming convention as the Variable Fighters in Macross. Generally, the VFs have a code number and an official name. However, nobody in-show actually uses the name, they just generically call them all Valkyries, and differentiate between them using code numbers.

"Infinite Justice" was the original code name used for operation Enduring Freedom until the US decided it might offend people. If Sunrise want to make references, they might as well go all the way.

Yeah, I was about to mention that. It would really match Justice's name too.
"Enduring Freedom" sounds really original and epic and dramatic.
there's also a personal reason why I'd use the name too.

We can call it Momoiro Justice. (Momoiro, although defined as the color 'pink' in Japanese, is pretty much used as a slang for 'porn' these days... Hmm, Porno Justice...)

I've knoticed that the color of the model of Infinite Justice is way lighter -thus pink- than what it looks like in the anime.

Oh yeah, I'd rather call it Archduke/Body Cavity/Opposition/Light Pink -which all are meanings of the japanese word, taikou- Justice than Porno Justice XD

I'm an old skooler, but Zeta is pretty nice1. RX-93 (Nu) is not bad either. Double X doesn't really do anything for me, but it is my favourite mech (RX-93 is damn close though).

I recently bought a new phone, a Nokia N91; guess what it's nickname is?

The mobile armor Neue Ziel (meaning New Zeal)? I thought the name was very fitting, since it was used to spark off the revival of Zeon in Operation Stardust.

Incidentally, I think the weird romanization causes some of the name references in Zeta to be nonsensical.

Hamrabi->Hammurabi, the Babylonian lawgiver

Palace Athene->Pallas Athene, another name for Athena the Greek Goddess (which the MS even resembles in shape).

Quebeley -> Kublai, named for the conqueror Kublai Khan (and also a reference to Maharajah & Haman Khan).

The O (huh?)-> Theo, (i.e. God almighty, a pretentious name only someone with a god complex like Scirocco could come up with)

Baund Doc -> Bound Dog (Jerid's last MS, and fitting because, sadly, he ain't nothing but one throughout the series. )

Well I know he used that last, but is that considered as a gundam? Oh well, maybe that's what gp02 truly meant.

'Neue Ziel' is German for 'new goal' and I always thought it fit the Mobile Suit (or is it a Mobile Armor?) because Neo Zeon is pursuing another goal at that time.

Why are some names are so sexual like i.e. Beejana(vagina) and Zechs(Sex)? Are these names out of the blue or did they give it for a reason?

The Physalis is the only Gundam Gato pilots. Only other things he used being a MS-14A Gelgoog and the AMA-02/AMX-002 and, presumably should you accept Encounters in Space's version, a MS-09R Rick Dom modified with a beam bazooka (own reactor, of course) to which he used to help people escape from Solomon to earn his "Nightmare of Solomon" nickname.

The Neue Ziel also represents a bit of ZZ as well wit its "half-control system" which is essentially the quasi-psycommu system that is later used in a few MS during ZZ's period (the Hamma Hamma, Doven Wolf, Gundam Mark IV and V, etc). Of course, given the period, psycommu systems and other such systems (like the I-Field) were so large that only Mobile Armor were able to equip them.

Just goes to show how far technology can go in 7-9 years.

Since it's consisten....yes, for sexual innuendo. Full Frontal, the new masked guy in Unicorn is a porno reference that's clearly stated in the profile. The exact text said something about his name being related to "nudity."
