This joke sure didn't age well.
Nowadays, people not even refer to this anymore. What I keep seeing is the citation for Tsutsui saying that you can choose your own canon, therefore they keep parroting that all routes are canon and IF at the same time, there is no main route... ...Except for Volume 16 and 17 forming a closure image together, which not coincidentally contain all of the remaining chapters before the Rizu IF starts. And not coincidentally again, the Rizu chapters got the IF tag. It's totally reasonable and logical to treat an IF tagged story as canon, because the author advised this to the fans with fragile hearts. |

There are more Fumino fans overseas, but the Japanese readers definitely care for Sensei the most given how she massacred the competition in the popularity polls, becoming the most popular WSJ heroine ever. It's obviously a marketing tactic saving her last.
Back to my theory of WSJ not finding a replacement series, 3 new manga will be launching soon, and neither of them strikes me as a romcom. One of them is confirmed for a gag manga. |

At the pace this is going, it'll take 2 volumes
Rizu route is too filler-ish. But that's understandable, there really isn't any actual conflict stopping them from becoming a couple so it's just usual cockblocking. I'd rather have this over forced drama.

I think Nariyuki and Rizu simply don't interact a lot, don't have quality interactions, where I can clearly see a certain point, which feels like an evolution in their relationship.
They are playing a game for 7 months now. Nariyuki doesn't seem so keen to prove Rizu wrong nor right. He is just going with her pace and the random happenings around them. All of the crucial hits so far were Rizu's doings. Asking him to call her by her given name and hold her hand. Asking about how her swimsuit looks like and saying they look like boyfriend and girlfriend. Asking him to view that bunny rock together, then saying the distance between them is shrinking. Nariyuki tried to derail with Sekijou, but only after they were in kissing distance, started he wondering about their relationship. Sekijou dumped on us that he frequently visits Rizu, but that's the thing, she told the readers that Nariyuki is probably attracted to Rizu (because it is scripted here), instead of showing us. While what we see is not convincing at all, and Rizu is losing precious screentime to Sekijou like usual and the ghost girl of all characters. I don't think Tsutsui has to do A+ or S-tier writing for these routes. He can do 9 times the usual Nariyuki visits Sensei formula and it could still work, because they would interact a lot in their usual, entertaining way. But if he undermines a heroine on her route with limited chapters, like he currently does with Rizu by focusing on other characters instead of the actual couple, that's just bound to cause negativity. The Mermaid arc was the culmination of the whole journey, these IF routes don't have that luxury, if he also has to come up with a setup, explain it, then for some reason decides to focus on someone else, wasting time. |

People already started panicking that the Ibara girls/Reiji, the maids/Papa Kominami/Mama Kominami, and Miharu will hijack the other heroines as well. Can't say I expected the straight up roast of Rizu from /r though. The chapter massively broke them.
