Hajime’s looking a little rough there. I’d say Takayaki really upped his game for this volume. Though I was kind of hoping the other color insert would be the bath scene in Orcus.

Well, lots to take in from this week's chapter. The most important thing is that we finally got an explanation for how the worlds work. Hajime named all of the worlds and world trees, and we even learned the backstory of holy sword-chan. Oh, and Egari can talk now.

The author also gave us a tease of what to expect from volume 11. Apparently the biggest revisions for the volume were made for Yuuka, Endou, and the other classmates, so we should expect more development for them. The extra story is going to be about Tio's home visit when she was enlisting the dragon people's support for the final battle.

Got my copy of volume 11. There are some fantastic illustrations in this volume. It was everything I could have asked for. Cool fighting scene with Shea, the girls worriedly hovering over Hajime, bashful Yuuka, Kaori and Remia in the bath, Shizuku clinging to Hajime, Hajime claiming Tio, a look at Lily's darkside. All wonderful. As we expected, this volume ends after WN chapter 164, when they've all gone into Ehito's realm at the start of the battle.

Well, I finished volume 11. It was a great read, though now the wait for volume 12 will be painful. Even though it's been a few years since I've read these chapters in the WN, I feel like there were a lot of revisions done to the material for the LN. As the author has stated previously, most of it is in the form of giving the classmates more to do. Since plenty of it is still familiar, though, I'll just mention some of the things that stood out to me the most.

The early fight in the Maou castle seems a lot more epic, with its focus spread out over more characters. There are also some differences in how the events play out from what I recall. For example, Kouki and Eri attack Shizuku's group. Kaori defends the hostages from a barrage of breath attacks of a bunch of ash dragons. Shea helps Hajime fight off the apostles as they try to free Yue from the pillar of light trapping her.

After Ehito leaves, while Alv is trampling on Hajime and the others are restrained, Yuuka, Endou, Aiko, Lily, and the other classmates work together to free the main group from the influence of the Word of Ehito and deliver Kaori's swords to Shizuku and Shea. Endou had apparently lost his lack of presence after Meld’s death, but regained it here when he became determined to fight.

Alv mentions a piece of information about how Gruen desert was formed in ancient times by draining the area of magic in order to create Ehito's sanctuary. This was also brought up in the BD bonus novel as the country that was ruined there during that act belonged to Eto Shin's creators. Ehito plans to do the same thing to the rest of Tortus before leaving for Earth.

Yuuka, Lily, and the other classmates work together to fend off some monsters while Aiko focuses on waking Kaori up with Spirit magic.

It took the combined efforts of Kaori, Aiko, and Tio to keep Hajime from dying after the battle due to his forced use of Limit Break affecting even his soul.

Lily tried to kiss Hajime to wake him during the confusion while he was being healed due to the influence of her favorite romance stories.

During the conference in the Maou castle there is a mention of 9 students that were part of the shut-in group. The author confirms in the afterword that those students have never been named in the story, and will perhaps be introduced in the after story at some point.

Hajime puts Yuuka in charge of the classmates for the decisive battle after seeing how she had rallied them in the castle while no one else could act. There's a nice little callback to their talk in volume 3 as he tells her she'll be able to do it since she has spirit. The illustration of her looking embarrassed is from this scene.

When Hajime is talking to Kaori in the depths of Orcus where he met Yue, he reveals that he unlocked two new skills during the battle at the Maou castle. One is the same skill Yue has that allows her to use magic without an array, Imagination Composition. The second skill is a derivation of Limit Break called Shinshou(真匠 - True Craftsman) that allows a person to break the limits of talent and greatly increase their abilities. With that ability he is said to have fully surpassed Oscar.

Hajime injured himself pretty badly while trying to create his last resort against Ehito and got lectured by Kaori, Myuu, and Remia.

The bath scene and introduction of the demon rangers was changed a bit to flow more naturally in the novel format.

The classmates seem to be spreading the idea that Hajime is the Maou before he himself embraced it.

It’s not shown in the picture with Shizuku clinging onto Hajime, but Shea is actually also holding onto his other arm.

More familiar characters are mentioned being present during the meeting just before the final battle. Yuuka, Kuzeri, Simon, Sybil, David, Alfrerick, Altena, Cam, Will and his father Greil all attend.

Several people come to visit Hajime before the final battle. Motto comes to introduce his granddaughter Samaire. Three people from the Sea of Trees including the guard Gil and the newspaper editor Mao come. Soul Sister knight-chan comes to see Shizuku. Hajime has Cam take her and Mao away. David and Christabel come. Venri also comes.

Hajime gives out some parting words to people as the battle starts, including Yuuka and Endou.

The bonus chapter was pretty amusing. It starts out with Venri offering her daily prayers for Tio’s wellbeing when she hears from the village elder that Tio’s magic has been detected. She goes out to meet her and eventually finds Tio rocketing back at speeds far beyond what she should have been capable of while using a slightly different dragon form than usual. The two of them return to the village to gather everyone so that Tio can tell them about the impending decisive battle.

To convince everyone about her words, Tio shows them a reproduction of what went on in the Maou castle. The entire time she has been dropping hints at the change in her nature, though only Venri had a vague sense that something was off at first. The talk gradually shifts to Hajime and Tio’s transformation becomes more obvious to everyone. To make matters worse, the video continued even after the replay of the events at the Maou castle ended. The next video showed a session where Hajime helped Tio power up so that she could fly home faster by repeatedly spanking her. This naturally led to pandemonium as Tio told everyone about how she had dedicated herself to Hajime. Her potential fiancee candidates were upset of course, but Tio mercilessly shut them down as she explained how Hajime had opened up the door to a new world for her.(Adul fainted while standing.)

Later, the dragon people began making their preparations to leave. Tio was forced out by the others, so she went on a walk to visit her parents’ grave and tell them about everything that had happened. She was eventually joined by Adul, who led her into the tomb of their founding ancestor. There, he showed her the thing that had been kept hidden inside, a scale of the founder that seemed to possess a dangerous concept magic that gave off a similar feeling to Hajime’s Deny All Existence. He allowed Tio to fuse with it so that she could power up for the decisive battle. She had a difficult time at first, but eventually was able to succeed.

Afterwards, the dragon people teleport over to the Heiligh kingdom to participate in the decisive battle. They all cry as they watch Tio trying to Lupin dive Hajime, knowing that their old princess is never coming back.

Final thoughts: It’s kind of funny, but since most of the action is normally located towards the end of a book, it was a bit odd to have the big action segments out of the way in the first half of this volume. Of course, volume 12 should be nothing but battles, so I suppose having that buffer here is a good thing. Incidentally, I noticed that Hajime’s artificial arm is never shown in any of the illustrations in this volume. I wonder if it was intentional in order to surprise us with a new design for volume 12 since he had to make a new one. Overall, we got some solid character development all around. I particularly enjoyed how assertive Aiko and Lily were in this book, and Yuuka’s moments were fantastic as well. It was also nice to see a bunch of characters we had met throughout the story returning to lend their support, as well as the introduction of some new ones that will have a part to play in the after story. With any luck, maybe we’ll get to see the end of the main story by the end of the year.

I get the feeling that LN v12 might have some info/hint regarding the Tree Goddess and her Summoned Hero as well, who fought against Ehit and lost years back (and later sealing her Soul inside the Holy Sword). Probably during Kouki Vs Shizuku and Ryutarou. I think it would probably be mentioned/hinted in the final volume of "Zero" as well.

Forgot how many people got summoned during the incident or were the number was mentioned (i remember it was 30+, around 35 i think, but not sure). I remember the name of 24 (including Aiko).

It's certainly possible. Or perhaps there will be some hints when Hajime and Yue go back into Ur Alt during the epilogue. Adding the world tree mythology into the series feels a bit like the author's attempt to add more of an overarching, interconnected plot into the after story since most of it is a bunch of disjointed, unrelated stories. Of course, it might have been his plan all along since world trees also factor in heavily in Tales of Phantasia, which had a massive influence on Arifureta's setting. I was also happy to see how the author started laying out the groundwork for the Fleur knights in this volume.

Fun chapter this week. Hajime takes the Super Miledi G Mark VII out for a spin. I have to wonder what the Yaegashi family is planning to do if they get their own Iron Man suits. Hajime's ambition to create his own world with a world tree that produces all forms of power is pretty big.

Finally finished Zero volume 4, the fight between Ahat and Miledi once again make me realize how ridiculous Hajime was when he fought Nointe and soloed an Apostle on his first try
On another note, the novel describes Lyut’s hair color as sliver yet in the illustration they look blonde/green-ish

The Demon King and Hero arc is finally over. This has a lot more impact than I though it would have. Hajime has taken a huge leap in ruling over his own self made world. Kousuke has found his fifth lover. And Kouki has finally learned the horrors of having a harem of strong willed women.

The author said that there would be another arc of Kousuke and his encounter with the onmyouji girl from Kyoto during the school trip, so maybe she's the possible sixth wife.
