Villains who want to be beaten
I was wondering if there are any good series where on some level the villains want to be defeated. Like, the absolute best ideal scenario for them would be if the hero was able to beat them at every turn. For example, there's the manga/anime Spiral. In it, the villains are primarily the Blade Children. These kids are cursed in a manner that's not entirely made clear in the anime, but one of the few people they truly trusted told them that his younger brother, the main hero, would be able to save them. They continue to face off against him, but at least some of them seem to be doing so to test him or push him to grow in some way. Several of them don't believe he's good enough and either go along with the plan or try to legitimately destroy him to eliminate the "false hope", but still one of the key points is this belief that he's the only one who may be able to save them from their cursed fate, and thus if they win it means he really wasn't what they hoped he was.

Most Villainess stories are like this
At some point they want to be defeated by the heroine, but with minimal damage, so they can leave the kingdom and live peacefully in the country side (almost never happened, except that nun and chef one) Example be [I don't want to become the empress]
