While this really counts more as anime news, I thought it would be interesting to post about nonetheless: A new SDS movie is coming out this summer! And apparently, Suzuki wrote the plot for it, as well. He even teased about it, as translated by MH's FKS:

Here's the translation of Nakaba's comment:
This movie is filled with a bunch of stuff not drawn in the NnT series!! King and Diane's ****, Meliodas and Zeldris' newfound relationship, the appearance of **** and **** whose only names ever came up, the **** battle which is the last, you should watch it!!

The last battle thing has me curious alright.

^Hmm, curious indeed! Personally, I'd rather have seen some gaiden chapters covering this stuff, but whatever. Also, just a little reminder that the long-anticipated sequel series will begin NEXT WEEK! I should probably start a new thread for it.... so I did!

So, here's something interesting I came across: Recently, Suzuki gave an interview for the French magazine Japan Live, where he reveals a lot of interesting info, some of it pertaining to the sequel series! Credit goes to MH's Demonspeed for summarizing the info:

1. Escanor's death was planned very early.
2. Nakaba also planned to kill Jericho, but his editor convinced him not to. He also thought about killing Gowther 😨 .
3. As we know, the Sins were OP from the start in this series. In MNY, he wants protagonists who will progressively get stronger. Like in most Nekketsu.
4. Nakaba loves Arthur's character. NNT is just a prologue for his story. He wanted to focus on Arthur at first but he ended up writing about the Sins. It's because of Arthur that he is still writing that sequel in the same universe (When you read the answer it's really obvious that Nakaba loves Arthur very much).

- When he started the story, only Meliodas and Elizabeth's story was clear in his mind. For the others, he developed their stories along the way.
- Meliodas's sometimes dumb and perverted attitude was to hide what he knows about Elizabeth to the readers.
- Ban wears red to hide the blood spilling from his injuries and the blood of his opponents when he is fighting.
- His editor didn't want Diane to be a giant but Nakaba was stubborn and he accepted.
- He wanted an honest, frank and upright character when he created Diane.
- He tried to make King the purest and most innocent character.
- He really likes the two main pairings (Melizabeth and Kiane).
- Arthur and Merlin were supposed to appear much earlier and be more relevant but there was a change of plans.
- The second Byzel tournament was his editor's idea.
- It was interrupted because of the huge cast. He said that without interruption it would have taken him two years to complete it.
- He likes tournament arcs in shonen and thinks they are not as common nowadays.
- His most memorable fight in the manga is Meliodas VS Ban (in the first tourney) and then Escanor's fights.
- He delayed Escanor's introduction because he would have been too strong for the first saga.
- Among the Sins, Merlin is "special" (he is referring to her role there).
- He used to offer a drink to his editor first during their meetings so that he would accept his ideas more easily, but it had the opposite effect. His editor realized it later and now they drink after discussing about the content of the chapters.
- He doesn't believe he is a good artist. But the pages the most memorable to him are the ones where he introduced Arthur with his army. He spent a lot of time and energy on them and started drawing them during New Year's Eve to complete them January 1st.
- Zeldris's hairstyle is inspired by Akira Kongou.
- Japan really likes to ask him questions about Fairies and he finds it strange, he was expecting more "spoilerific" questions.
- In page with the three Demon "Brothers" there was a hint about Estarossa's true nature.
- His favorite series are Kinnikuman, Dragon Ball, Captain Tsubasa, Hokuto no Ken. With Kenshiro as his favorite character( he seems to like his fights in particular).
- He is fond of action movies.
- He drew everything he wanted and found the ending satisfying.
- The unresolved mysteries were saved for the sequel.
- When he finally got time to visit France(near the end of the manga), the pandemic happened and ruined his plans. He wants to visit France and buy good wine there.

He thanks his readers at the end. He says that he hopes that they will read the sequel. And also that he is hoping to make it better than NNT.

^Personally, I'm not surprised he planned to kill off Escanor, nor that he refrained from introducing him earlier in the series (too OP, as he points out himself). I'm a bit surprised he was going to off Jericho, though. And I actually addressed some of his plans for the second Vaizel (aka Byzel) tourney in the sequel thread. Also, I hope he finally makes that trip to France someday!

Honestly, I prefer much more Meliodas than Arthur, I'm glad his plsns changed.

I just had a random thought but technically Meliodas and the original goddess Elizabeth were cousins. DK and SD were both created by chaos making the essentially siblings

I'm more shocked that Meliodas x Elizabeth and King x Diane were considered more main than Ban x Elaine!

No question that you couldn't introduce Escanor during the first arc. There isn't a soul in that arc that could give him a challenge. And if you nerfed him in order to make him fit in then it just wouldn't be Escanor.

I do wonder at what point he was intending to kill off Jericho. In the first act? Later on?

NNT wasn't a perfect series. And there definitely were some plotholes left behind that the creator just never realized. But it was still a good ride. There was a lot in it that was purely refreshing and fun.

Ludociel is also 6000 while Sariel and Tarmiel are 5000 and Mael is 3500. Nerobasta is 3700 and Jelamet is 3300. Nanashi is 3500. Jenna and Zaneri are both 1800. (Oh please, Nakaba.) Oslo is 2700.
About Wild: 300cm long, 180cm high, other stats unknown.

His misunderstanding toward his brother Meliodas cleared up and the Demon King died out. To Meliodas' suggestion to drink some alcohol, Zeldris patronizingly, shyly answers "If it's one on one, I will consider it." Gelda and Elizabeth are seen smiling at such a sight from a distance.

I wonder if the reason Bartra and his other daughter are listed as Elizabeth's stepfather and stepsisters is because she's a goddess and not really Bartra's daughter. Her current incarnation and body is his daughter, though, no?

So, the movie releases this week! And along with it came a novelization, as well:

So, the big thing to take from this is that yes, the Sins battle against the Supreme Goddess! Looks like her abilities involve attacking with light (naturally) and negating most physical attacks against her (kinda similar to how the Demon King could absorb attacks against him). Now, I'm slightly iffy on the details (and this being from the novel, it probably differs from how the movie itself presents it), but apparently, the Sins defeat the SG by pooling their powers together into a "god slaying strike", which Merlin enhanced with her own magic from offscreen. So going by the movie, the SG is killed before the sequel series' events take place, though whether it counts as canon or not is still up for debate, I think....

Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, Zeldris is confirmed to become the next Demon King! Good for him!
