He's still active on his blog. His latest post there was about the English release of Volume 4, posted on the 18th of July. On Twitter, he commonly tweets how he's feeling and it's 6/10 feeling bad and 4/10 feeling good.

Is issei’s character design based off some other character? I feel like I’ve seen an anime in which the mc reminded me of issei.

His appearance is based on Kazuma Torisuna from s-CRY-ed because the author is a fan of the series.

I can see that with his weapon being a glove that later turns into full armor lol. Kinda funny Issei didn’t get Regulus Nema instead lol

Never seen it but you can definitely see the similarities. The anime I was thinking about is golden boy. Kintaro looks like he could be issei in his 20s.

But the armor is base on Kamen Rider Ryuki, at least part of it. Feels like Ishibumi loves to input something from his interest.

I haven’t read any of the shin novels yet, how do they differ from the rest? Is there a specific reason why ishibumi made the change?

He said DxD would end in 30 volumes. With the side stories he hit that number....and decided "screw it imma keep going"

Considering how Ishibumi suddenly went quiet on his blog & twitter I'm not surprised. I know he's still posting on both. But if you check back, none of his post are talking about the series' story, I mean usually he would talk some random bits about the story, or what he wants to do, but recently I don't think there's been any of those tweets or blog post.
