Character introduction #1 - Chisato (VA: Chika Anzai) I didn't expect it to be about the cafe but it looks funny so far base on the PV. I love Chisato's giggle already.

Now meet MC's buddy(?)
Character introduction #2 - Takina (VA: Wakayama Shion) She looks similar to Reina from Hibike! Euphonium. And how coincidence that Chisato is voiced by VA of aforementioned character. Character introduction #3 - Mizuki (VA: Koshimizu Ami) Character introduction #4 - Kurumi (VA: Kuno Misaki)

Episode 1
Huh. That was... surprisingly enjoyable. Chisato's smile and happy attitude were too bright to ignore. I was expecting to hate this once the previews started revealing what it really was, but... I didn't hate it after all. It would have to pull off something extra special for me to begin to really care about it, but as an amusing show to casually catch up on each weekend... I think it might do alright.

Ep.1
The first episode is alright. It balances the 'funny' side and 'action' side well. The story is not too light and not too serious. Animation is as good as one would expect from A-1. Main characters are instant likeable for me. Chisato is genki girl who have a hint of serious side and quite skilled at her job. I can forgive Chisato no-kill policy since she did it in such a badass way. Takina is serious in a funny way and she's trigger happy LOL. Their conversation and banter are enjoyable to listen too. Now Let's see how the plot will develop from here. ED animation is great. Too bad we don't get to see OP in this episode.

I'll say it: Genki Gunslinger Girls.
That said, I didn't know what to expect from this, the cold opening was very surprising contrast to the way they've been portraying the PVs, and I was intrigued by it. I enjoyed the early hints at conspiracy/mystery, so there is even a "hard-boiled" feel to it despite the main characters. There was a lot to like here. (Aside from the 'suppressors aka silencers don't actually work that way' element that is omnipresent in media.) |

Do you think they'll actually get around to explaining why all their hitmen are high school girls, or it's just something we have to roll with? That's my only beef with this show. Maybe they actually explained it and I missed it since the show was buffering every 20 seconds and I spent most of the time on my phone as a result. Crunchyroll needs to get their shit together.
The rest was really good.

I had no idea what I went into as I didn't watch any PVs of it and I neither like or dislike it. It's one of the shows Aniplus picked up so I'll watch it I guess and see where it goes. Interesting that in the credits, Walnut's seiyuu is blurred out. He was using a fake voice in the episode but to go that far for that character is a pretty amusing detail. |

The cracking sound is still 120 dB. It won't travel as far because it is no longer 140+ dB, and that's what movies, live-action, and anime essentially never get right. The sound itself is close enough, but not how loud it still is. You can easily hear it 50-100 meters away, instead of over a kilometer away. Not something where teenage girls can execute a criminal in a park and nobody notices. It's really my only complaint, and easy enough to ignore because it is so common. |
