Someone pointed out something that I find cool. In the next Volume of RWBY the team will probably fracture once they find out that Jaune killed Penny. With Ruby being upset at Jaune and Yang and Blake siding with her while Weiss will side with Jaune as she was there and saw how desperate the situation became. Neo still thinks Ruby killed Torchwick will gravitate towards Jaune's group

Ruby, Blake and Yang in one side. RBY which still spells Team Ruby

And Jaune, Weiss and Neo in another side. JWN which spells Team Jaune.

Too obsessed with team names and possible meanings, IMO. I have no idea why Neo would ever collaborate with anyone associated with Ruby. People might be despairing but I don't think they're going to turn on one another like that - this already happened in Volume 8 with the teams splitting up, only to reunite in the end.
I think Ruby will be despairing and might not be able to forgive Jaune in the moment, but I don't think she'd do so much damage over it.

I suspect the person who's going to be hardest on Jaune for killing Penny is Jaune himself. Weiss saw what the situation was and can explain it to everyone else.

As someone who doesn't really know much about the original series, watching this Ice Queendom anime feels... weird? Like, things just keep happening with no time to digest anything, they keep skipping over battles, developments are happening at a pace that makes it feel like weeks have passed within minutes, etc.

It's like a hyper abridged series, or like speed reading a manga by reading every 4th page and skipping the rest.

They surely expect viewers to either know the original story or want to check it.

I burned out on RWBY years ago and was kind of ambivalent about Ice Queendom but if its going to be original I'm sort of intrigued.

In my opinion, Season3 was the last good season of RWBY.
Since the tonal shift (and Monty's death) the plot went downhill.

I don't think Ice Queendom will make the whole thing better.
It'll surely be just a side-story with little effect on the bigger picture.

Still, I'll enjoy it as best as I can.
