I'm surprised you can remember the game to that degree. It's been over 20 years since I played it myself on the PSX, and I can broadly remember the jewel storyline, but no specific details... at least not enough to notice if they added or changed things. Especially since it was more "slice-of-life adventuring"(and thus segmented stories) than having a focused narrative that is easily remembered.

Man that intro was like digging through a bunch of fortune cookies or a cryptic message randomizer. I presume that's the Goddess of Mana, but all I'd say to her is "I'm not afraid, I'm confused, make sense already!"
But anyways, it was a perfectly alright first episode. Got to meet a bunch of people and getting some idea of what is going on in that setting. Though obviously a lot of things are still very much left in the dark.

Man, that first episode definitely felt like having context from the game would greatly help in dealing with the pace of the episode. Only time will tell if it'll evolve from that. I wish I could remember the game events better, because as-is, it felt all over the place. Especially if they are going to skip/Cliff-note practically every other non-jewel event like the first Bud & Lisa story.
The remix of the game's opening theme as the ending theme was great =03.
