K9999 is back but reskinned to avoid lawsuit with Katsuhiro Otomo. And SNK never liked the entire Tetsuo ripoff Eolith went with, for the second K's rival

that Krohnen character somehow reminds me of K9999. The clothes are similar.

I can already see new fans going "He looks awesome" leading to the overconfident "Why is he the sole opponent in Boss Challenge, I can take him" *Cue live videos of streamers who don't know any better raging and breaking controllers*, hell I the only time I fought anything close to Omega Rugal was Go Rugal in SNK vs Capcom 2 in arcades and I blew a shit ton of quarters trying to beat him.

I fought Rugal in all versions. 94, 95, 98, 2002 and the CvS games. What forever marked me is the small detail in 94, when in second round he use his rushing grab and slam you in the wall, breaking the aircraft carrier control room machinery. That felt powerful.

I kinda wish his Boss mode Challenge skin is his Cyborg version in 95.

Fought him in 98 and CVS.

What left impression to me is one have to going through his AI Genocide Cutter reaction in hardest difficulty.
It bugs me as being arcade era boss obviously some of his moves got higher priorities compare to his playable version and you have to deal with reaction that sent you to air. It nostalgic to saw Gato and Ilsa get hit by it when using super move that involves dash.

I appreciate little details like that in games. Bonus points if some of such destruction has actual effects on gameplay. Dead or Alive, as I recall, was famous for this; and I can think of two light-gun games which have interesting, albeit opposite, examples:
  • Space Gun: so you've primed the base's reactor to explode, and there's a ship you can use to reach minimum safe distance. Thing is, the final boss has somehow set up shop in the bridge, making fire discipline essential - excessive damage guarantees your martyrdom;
  • Steel Gunner 2: the problem with defeating the final boss? That also triggered the self-destruct, and now you have to blast through various enemies and obstacles to get to an exit... inside a tight time limit.

They only showed gameplay of Rock and Terry but there is not much outstanding other than the XV visuals improved a bit since the two designs already appeared in such game. The teaser seems to highlight it takes place in the entire South Town
