Writing was a mess, it's like they aired the second or third episode as the first episode. Visuals were good though, but eh, I'll see where it goes.
Also about Hiroyuki Yoshino's character my first thought was 'is he supposed to be the Joker' and then the character pulled the joker card, little bit on the nose there.

Nyeh, this didn't convince me, none of the characters were particularly endearing of interesting and the cheap Blade Runner with super sentai suits knock-off doesn't interest me, either. Dropped.

It was pretty, but overall looked like a generic original sci-fi from bones. Rogue looks quite autistic also, and it is obvious that the director worked with Shinichiro Watanabe before (they made Carol & Tuesday together). I am not impressed but will watch it at least for the setting and animation for now (but I fear it will end like all similar titles from Bones being quite a wasted potential).

Pluses:
- I liked Rouge's little personality quirks. At least twice she responded to the same input with the same response. "Nah, I'm good" when being asked if she wanted something else to eat. And "I had no idea there was an actual person talking through the bird." So there's a bit of robot-ness to her. But there was also that point where the bird asked her if she was still self-aware and she responded a bit comically. Is self-awareness something she can lose? - There are hints at a bigger world. There's mention of an armistice. The two dudes working at the club mention something about aliens and "Visitors" seemingly indicating that aliens do exist. And while we don't yet know who it sounds like Rouge killed two other of the Immortal Nine already. - There's certainly the potential for all sorts of AI loyalty and rebellion plots. Like with the poor worker android not being able to fight back at having his life stolen and dying a painful death. Minuses: - While extended first episodes or episode pairs don't work for every show, I do wish I knew a bit more about what's going on. Way too early to judge the story, plenty of time for things to fill in, but I'd have liked to have had a bit more. - I wished the city was a little more visually vibrant. - The fight scene at the end, while fine, didn't blow me away. I'm hoping for more impressive scenes going forward. All in all, I'll stick with it for now. A slow first episode in the middle of a story doesn't come close to making me want to rule a show out. But it will need to pick up and make sense eventually.

There was enough here to pick my interest. A lot of mysteries but I like that. Rouge has a nice design and the suits are not CGI!

This series was on my preseason radar and it was interesting enough to maybe give another episode but I'm leaning towards dropping this. Characters are all very cardboard so far. |

It really is something that the first enemy was basically screaming questions the audience would be having right now. Why is she going after these people? Who the heck is the MC really? I don't have a clue! Yeah, that one guy is extremely shady and pretty evil. But the woman that was taken out seemed to be trying to live a life. Clearly was up to stuff in the attempt to get herself in the clear, but beyond that I'm not sure.
I like the cool designs for the combat forms and the action was good. There's just not that much to sink my teeth into yet. Lot of setup for the setting and such. But I'm still waiting for something more here. Will see what episode 2 brings.
