100% her mother was probably killed by a noble that didn't like her hanging around the slums.
"He who has mastered defensive magic" Looks like Krishna has the naming sense of light novels. Pretty good addition to the group. Probably my favorite of the bunch so far. Lily was funny too. Trying to assert her position, but she's still a kid, so its past her bedtime. Time for bed.

Honestly, the way Aston was already dismissive of the poor kids in the slums was a clear sign that his future "partnership" with Zenos was destined not to end well. That he didn't take Zenos' healing abilities seriously, or even realize when Zenos was healing him, just further enhanced how lopsided their relationship was. All Zenos was to him was a convenient" slave
![]() And now we see the Golden Phoenix in the present-day, as haughty and conceited as ever, convinced that there is nothing that can stop them and slaying some firefoxes for pelts will be as easy as all their other jobs. I mean, they've never been injured or seriously hurt! They must be invincible! But I'm honestly on the side of the firefoxes protecting their cubs, so I was more than happy to watch it immediately go wrong and for Golden Phoenix to get a huge wake-up call. I mean, one of them straight-up got so injured they'll never be able to adventure again. Of course, this can't mean they needed Zenos or anything ![]() So of course they try to replace Zenos with an officially licensed healer, but Umin is not Zenos, yet she has more sense than Aston does and clearly knows that they're fighting way above their actual skill level and don't stand a chance here. Not that Aston is satisfied with that or failing the noble he was trying to butter up. All this means is that he just needs to drag Zenos back so Golden Phoenix can rise again! Easy, right ![]() I love how Aston's idea to find Zenos in the slums is ask Zenos' actual Harem to find him. Dude even had the gall to think Zophia would want to be in HIS Harem instead. But all the girls know full well who Golden Phoenix are, and what they did to Zenos, so they have no reservation calling out their idiocy and making it clear that if they keep bothering them or Zenos they'll end up dead ![]() And there it is! Aston finally finds Zenos again! Only Zenos obviously has no reason or motivation to go back to Golden Phoenix and will only humor them if they can pay his full healing costs. Cue high-pitched and frustrated screaming from Aston. I'm not surprised Aston straight up attacked him, but that's the perfect excuse for the last member of Zenos' Harem, Krishna, to show up to blast him and arrest him (and she, in true Krishna fashion, found them by complete chance after getting lost). I guess I'm also not surprised that Aston immediately threw Guile under the bus so he could escape. What a scumabg ![]() If you thought the girls' gangs were criminals, the REAL shady and evil criminals are the Underground Guild. But I'm sure Zenos has nothing to worry about! Not like Aston has any money to pay off a hit with or anything. Unless he recruits "The Guide." Wait, when did this turn into the Intergalactic Empire anime ![]() Another sweet moment between Zenos and Lily, and Zenos having a pleasant teatime with Carmilla in her tender tsundere fashion. I'm really curious about Carmilla's backstory, and Zenos' with his master, if she was genuinely alive back in the day when there was a legit Demon Lord active in this setting. But they have no time to worry about that when a Golem is attacking the slums ![]()

They had Carmilla point out the absurdity, but it's still a bit funny that they were just talking about golems and now one attacks. Haven't seen them in what, 300 years and look, one shows up right when we bring them up. Would've been better to foreshadow it an episode or two ago rather than like 30 seconds before lol.
Ah well, whatever. As long as the show keeps giving me Zophia screen time, it can do whatever it wants with the story lol |

It was great when all the leaders turned down Aston and basically said the same thing to him about being a fool for kicking out Zenos.
Unfortunately for the slums it looks like he is a sore loser that made that golem go on a rampage.

We finally meet the Guide, voiced by Kouki Uchiyama, and you should never trust anybody who covers their eyes with a hood and acts so cheery and serene while helping you plot a revenge scheme while asking very personal questions and enjoying how depraved you are. Also, three guesses who hired him and the first two don't count
![]() We now return to the Golem attacking the slums, and luckily Lily is sleeping through this so Zenos and the girls can handle this without scaring her. Lucky for the slums that Zenos can do a mass AoE high healing to make sure nobody is seriously hurt or stays injured, though that also catches the Guide's attention and makes him recognize Zenos as more than just his latest target ![]() Poor Zenos though. So much overtime work with little chance of pay. This is what he was trying to leave behind ![]() Time for Zenos and his Harem to go into action! It's just like old times for Zenos, supporting a party with his healing and support magic and making these deadly ladies even more effective in battle ![]() To the surprise of probably no one, Aston is the one stuck in that golem. Guy had enough sense to avoid crushing a child, but not to refuse getting a magic stone placed in his body. I mean, Zenos would well within his right to just kill the guy and be done with that...but Zenos isn't going to take the easy way out, not when he knows the Wrong Way to use Healing Magic ![]() Why go through all that trouble for Aston? Healing, destroying, and surgically removing the stone lodged in his chest? It's not because Aston lost his sister and was desperate to find a place in this world, Zenos honestly doesn't care, but he still took Zenos in, he needs to repay all the damage he's done, and there's just the smidge Zenos owes him for the severance pay that saved Lily and lead Zenos to his best life ![]() Aston, to what little credit he deserves, finally realizes how Zenos was responsible for their successes and how powerful he truly is. His apologies don't really mean much now, but at least he gave it. Though it's more satisfying for Zenos to straight up slug him with as much force as he could place in his fists. Also apparently Zenos likes defeating his opponents by stripping them naked ![]() Krishna finally arrives to arrest Aston and he'll probably be going away for a while with the amount of charges he's facing (including public indecency) but at least he has his life and some "severance pay," meaning things are finally square between him and Zenos ![]() The Guide slinks back to the shadows until his next inevitable confrontation with Zenos, but for now Zenos is content getting taken care of by his Harem (even as they argue over him), Carmilla being best tsundere ghost waifu, and Lily being happy everyone is okay! All's well that ends well ![]()

After a huge battle with a Golem, don't you want to just unwind and relax in a hot spring? But be prepared for interruptions
![]() Zenos and his entire Harem are now on the watch for The Guide. They're all in agreement that he's a dangerous individual who will be hard to track down, even if he's now on Zenos' radar...of course, that's the only thing they can all agree on because Krishna refuses to sit at the same table as the Demihuman girls and Zenos has no time for this Harem catfighting nonsense ![]() Poor Lily! She finally had Zenos all to herself and was going to ask him out to the hot springs, just the two of them...and then each girl in the Harem consecutively shows up to do the same before she even gets to say! And Carmilla is enjoying her romance misery ![]() Did Zenos really think these girls were asking him to the hot springs without having every intention of getting IN the hot springs with him? First is Zophia, who is actually trying to act LESS aggressive with Zenos than she would normally so as to not turn him off...and then she just says screw it and tries to pounce on him. Lynga uses the ol' "dizzy" excuse to jump on him but ends up colliding her crotch with Zophia's boobs. Loewe was there the whole time and is flaunting her gloriously naked body, even if the lighting isn't good enough to show it off in its pure majesty, and Krishna is there acting like the only one with a sense of shame and decorum but I really doubt she just got lost and mistook the women's bath for the men's ![]() Oh hey, Umin is there too! And she finally gets in the same room as the rest of Zenos' Harem! Lily may not have had the confidence in her chest to actually go in and get in the bath with Zenos herself, but at least she's found a sister in smaller chest size in Umin! And even Carmilla reassures Lily not to be so self-conscience about bust size, Zenos might even like 'em small! Though not everybody reacts as well to wraiths as Zenos does ![]() Krishna acting ashamed of sharing the same table as criminal Demihumans, but the moment they make it into a contest for who gets to sit in Zenos' lap she immediately rushes in. All the girls end up drunken messes' with their yukata's falling apart, but I'm glad Lily got to win Zenos' lap ![]() Was Carmilla a mage? She has a magic staff that's important enough to her that she can possess it. Either way though, a pleasant drink under the moonlight with her isn't a bad thing ![]() An accident at the inn leads to an encounter between Umin and Zenos as they both try to heal a the innkeeper...but Zenos' ability is obviously far above Umin's. And she brings that knowledge to her boss, Dr. Brecker, at the Royal Magic Academy, and this is a guy willing to fake a debilitating disease just to find Zenos. And he may not be a wiz at Healing Magic, but he's actually a prestigious doctor who came up with several life-saving cures for deadly diseases! And he wants Zenos' help ![]() I understand why the Harem might be wary of someone not from the slums, but Brecker might actually be legit. I mean, sure he's voiced by Takehito Koyasu and has his eyes perpetually closed, but he's never withheld medicine from the slums, paid for delivery out of his own pocket, and he seems genuinely legit. He also can give Zenos info about his old mentor. Looks like Zenos is heading to the Royal Magic Academy ![]()

Well I'm sorry for Lily but she needs to become several years older and grow her chest some cups before I can root for her.
Zeros still isn't completely familiar with what common sense for a regular healer is, but maybe he'll learn some in the academy.

Zenos is really moving up in the world! Finally getting recruited into the Royal Hospital and even getting the bright white official uniform to boot! But he's been so used to the slums and being an illegal Healer that bright lighting and cleanliness repulse him. He'd rather hang out at Becker's messy office
![]() They updated the OP! Too bad for Zenos' Harem that they're left out of the group shot for a more gender-balanced group, but at least they still show up at the end ![]() Did you really think Lily wouldn't follow Zenos? She's his "wife" after all! Well, okay, sister in terms of official documentation, but that's not going to stop her from acting like his wife! She even did the classic "dinner, bath or...me?" gag which obviously Carmilla taught her. And of Carmilla came too because no way could the show leave her out nor would she leave her biggest source of amusement. Zenos is the only healer that could actually exorcise her anyway ![]() "Zeno" has to investigate and find missing students, and the top suspect is the Vice-Director of the hospital, Goldran (Tetsu Inada!) who has high authority but seems to cater to the rich and may have used that to up his rank rather than from his own skill. Not to mention that one of the last missing students, Afreade, was working with him. Definitely suspicious ![]() Ah, Cresson, one of THOSE guys who are so stuck-up because they're in a popular faction and think they're better than everybody else ![]() Does Zenos even have anything he can really learn from the Royal Hospital? His mentor (Yuichi Nakamura!) taught him pretty much everything he could ever know, both in terms of healing and ethics. But Zenos wasn't alone, he was trained alongside Veritra. What happened to him ![]() So much for "Zeno" not sticking out when he's the only one to solo a high-class dungeon, can kill multiple undead at once, and has a high-class and rare magic circle that he doesn't even need to use. Not to mention he's roomies with a Wraith who everyone regard as one of the most dangerous creatures of all. And now he's obviously on Cresson's hit list ![]() It was valiant of the normal healers to put in an effort to stop a bunch of rampaging Undead...but the most they really did was group them all together so Zenos could easily heal and destroy them. And then Cresson takes all the credit. Ugh ![]() But it was pretty satisfying when a Zombie King Boss Battle turns up and Cresson has to be the one to deal with it because he talked such a big game. Umin wastes no time roasting him and Zenos genuinely thinks he's got this handled, but the dude is screwed. I mean, points for actually trying to fend it off on his own, but in the end he of course needs Zenos' help. Seems like Umin also cares about him despite how annoying she finds him, which is cute. Cresson should appreciate her more ![]() To think this was all Carmilla's fault for drawing out all the undead ![]()
