I was rewatching the last 2 episodes, and I think I've finally got it.

Was Takenaka from the Japanese Red Army? I think it fits. He's fairly old, quotes Mao, admits he is an anarchist, works with the PLO (Ibraha). That flashback Takenaka has of a plane is obviously from the 1970 hijacking of the Yodo-go plane in Tokyo airport by the JRA.

I suspected something of that sort too—that he's a reference to some historical event—but I'm not sure if he's actually a real life figure.

Only a second season has been announced.

It will be just one coul. Only 3 story arcs will be animated.

And there's not enough manga material for 24 episodes, in my opinion.

A few questions if ya don't mind:

1) Is the manga still ongoing, or has it already finished?

2) How many volumes are out so far?

3) How many volumes has the anime covered in Season 1?

Ongoing, most recent chapter being chapter 40.

Five tankoubon in total.

Sixteen chapters (chp 1 to 10, chp 16 to 21). Chapters 11 to 15 will be animated in Second Barrage.

actually, I don't like a really long anime with no conclusion. I'd rather get 24 episode with ending rather than something like onepiece(300+ eps with no conclusion yet)

As for the that looong Fujiyama arc —

— the whole thing happens in Japan. Rock is assigned to be Balalaika's Russian language translator, (Just how many languages does this guy speak anyway? Japanese, English, a bit of Spanish, and now Russian? That's one hell of a salaryman!) while Revy is to be Rock's "gun," or his bodyguard. So basically it's just the two of them, plus the Yakuza, Hotel Moscow and a lot of bullets.

Some highlights:

- Normal moments, such as Rock and Revy in some festival, Revy teaching some kids how to properly play dead, and then Rock catching her in the act.
- Rock standing up to Balalaika. If you think him giving Revy a piece of his mind was something, think again.
- Yukio and Ginji vs. Rock and Revy. While Yukio and Rock talk it out, sword-wielding Yakuza badass Ginji gives Revy a fight for her life. Interestingly enough, when Yukio is about to take her own life, Revy shouts and tells Rock to not watch... but he doesn't look away.
- Rock becoming less naive about his current situation, a bit darker and finally asserting that he has no place in Japan anymore, (sayonara, Fujiyama...) finally saying goodbye to a life he'll never return to.

Oh yeah, Balalaika even gives Rock a gun, but he doesn't use it in this story. Perhaps this is to signify that Rock is a changed man. Then again, you know what they say about introducing a loaded gun in a story...
