there are my friend a simple explaination.
There are technically five main fractions. Except the fifth one is so few they have more or less allied themselves with one of the other four fractions.

The government of Earth,
The Earth Federate Government (EFG)- Earth Federate Army (EFA) - The wish to negoiate with the Aliens for a "peaceful" solution.

the United space Colony Coalition (UCC)
The Space government of humanity - They have allied themselves with the DC, and they wish to reduce the influence of the EFG on the colonies.

Divine Crusaders (DC) - Dr Brian, head of the joint UCC/EFG funded research EOTI facility to reverse engineer the alien technology.
The found out about the EFG secret "peace" negotiations, they don't want to go quietly into night.....

Outsiders - Two mysterious humans,with God-Machines. one who has betrayed the traditions, who cannot sit and wait for the alien. One who cannot forgive, and will do anything to bring this traitor back, alive...or dead.
One is allied with the DC the other with EFA.

So here is the picture.

As someone once mentioned: "War is the mother of all inventions...."

BREAK OUT!

i really hope they make more SRW anime.

Especially when they develop the dimensional cross gates (To jump Anime Series!)

So that they can call on all Humanity finest Roboto protectors, to help fight against the Aliens!

too earth-centric, Onizuka, plus a few errors. For one, the Blue one is not a god machine.

Aliens: They're here, they've been dumping bugs on us. which makes...

EFA: Wanna surrender quietly but...

DC: to declare their existence and war against the EFA, announcing the outer space threat while also causing...

UCC: to ally to DC.

As for the outsiders, the blue one is one of the largest arms of DC, so to speak. The revenge the other talks about goes beyond the blue one's role in DC though.

Just to dump some names out.
Albert Grey: EFG official at the ep 6 negotiations
Bian Zoldark: DC Leader
Meyer V. Branstein: UCC Leader
Brian Midcrid: critical role later. (SRWOG1 players on ATX route, don't spoil)

Oh, and your dimensional gate comment? OG2 epilogue should burst that bubble rather soon.

The dimensional gate is that thing we see in the op immediately after the Earth?
Anyway humans seem quite retarded... as usual I would say.
There are these alien invaders who threaten the entire world and what do they do? They fight among themselves...
Right choice LOL... not to mention this Earth Federation who seems to be made of pussies. Why doesn't Ryuusei join up with the Divine Crusaders?!? They have more balls at least!!!

nice to see episode 06 more or less faithful, misaki's VA does a good job, and i like the way they portrayed Su, not so sure about the chanting DC pawns, but meh.

well this episodes is much more fresh in my mine, since i fudge up my game, and had to restart from the beginning. lol. cant wait to see laatoni(sp?) get going, she abasolutely kicks arse, when you pair her with the boosted rifle.

dammit...need more Energy-sapping missiles >.<

I think she's an awesome character on the battlefield. When I played the game for the first time, I originally thought I wouldn't use her after awhile, but boy was I wrong. Can't say the same for Giada, though.

Giada is a full offense oriented pilot, but the guy needs some support defending. His seishin set is decent enough to keep him in combat for a while, especially his last one(Resupply/Renew, one of two people to have it, the other being Aya)

i like aya. garnet is almost like aya, too bad her spells kinda suck, well for me anyway i never unlocked further then three or something. got stuck versus Dr. Bian himself, i didn't have any good anti-energy draining weapons...doh.

Ohoho, they played the TROMBE! music in episode 9 today. That was totally awesome. It wasn't like the old school 8-bit music they've been having, but it was semi-orchestrated/midi. That was cool.

Trombe has to be my favorite OG theme ^^

For those who haven't played the OG games (like me), is the anime going to explain stuff and background, or are they going to assume the viewers have played the games?

Like that guy with the two talking cats in the sword super robot who showed up in episode 5 or 6, who was voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa. Do they explain the story behind him and the guy piloting the big blue super robot, voiced by Takehito Koyasu? 'Cause imo, that would be rather stupid if they didn't explain it because they assumed the viewers played the games.
