I usually use my "Anime-Fans-Locator X3000 v2.4". j/k

Seriously, only through some exterior sign, like special clothing. But in my college there are no obvious anime fans. Yet, I've managed to discover through ocasional conversation that this or that person like or had seen sometimes anime.

Usually, it isn't a big problem when or if the subject is brought up. The comments I get are something like: "Hm, no, I don't like anime, I don't like the design/eyes" (or something like that).

* Swear in Japanese

* Refer to alchol as sake

* Have clothing with Japanese sayings

* Own a few dozen katanas

* Have a really Japanese taste in Muzik

* When two Otakus discuss a certain Anime people dont know WTH they are talking about

* Pc Crash leads to Panic Attacks

Make a booth and post up a sign that says: Free anime, Line up here!

Now wait a little and see who shows up.

lol psycho your method sounds more like a "how to catch yourself, your own otaku" sort of method, lol. and when the otaku walks into the booth you slam the door and congratulations you just caught yourself a anime lover..

Hmm...

Open an IM chat with a fellow anime viewer, send them a file, get their ip in the process, do a ip scan and pinpoint state/country, city, service provider and address. Spend 1 grand+ to fly over there and voila! you've found someone lol...

Note that I do not condone the above method, although it has been done before lol

Or you can always use the phonebook and call every number on it and ask "Do you love anime?"

I don't see what the big deal is with saying that you enjoy anime out loud, it's the same as video games, it's mainstream these days. Get out of the closet and simply be, show your real colors and other fans will come talk to you. I go around with my NERV bag and almost always have a manga in hand, do i give a .... what other people think? Course not, why should I anyway, they probably have a biased opinion that anime/manga are for kids only.. whatever floats your boat.. that's what i usually tell them.

yeah i agree with you Shin personally i think alot of what anime has to offer is alot more meaningful than most mainstream american shows too and they carry a deeper message and theme.

If I wasn't such a sociopath I would go to manga sections in bookshops and anime sections in places like HMV and Virgin and randomly start a convo with someone.

We could always try and organise a meet or something lol

Fine by me.
I'll invite 100-150 people from Animesuki Forum to Norway in January.

(all expenses are NOT cowered by me )

hmm...
would have been fun though...

you know guys, you could try looking for anime lovers... OR! you could do what i did.

CREATE THEM!

my friends have never seen anime (except DBZ and hated it) but when i showed them the best sellers (chobits, elfen lied) they started to become really interested in anime.

Because hey lets face it, there isnt that vast of a majority that really watch anime...let alone what WE watch.
