Congratulations SlugZilla, leofish and frustra, and great job to everyone else who participated. I really love the new winter rotation.

Amazing work. I haven't been following this topic or anything but today I just noticed and I think the art is fanstastic. It's a really cool theme.

That's just the best bishie in the competition. Hopefully mantidor will enjoy it also. And I'm going to be rotating the extra banners from time to time, though there will ALWAYS be a Kairin. The advantage of making a Kairin banner is that you've got a good chance it will be featured from time to time even if it doesn't win.

Hopefully we'll be running another contest for the Spring. (We need to get new banners for every season now that we've increased the banner size.) Anyone have good suggestions for what colors would be best for a Spring gradient? Keeping in mind that it will have to be different from a Summer gradient...

I like this colour scheme for the seasons:

However if Green was chosen, I think it'll be hard to include sakura blossoms in the design.
Green and Pink? o__o;;

I would suggest Pink, but would that limit designs to only sakura blossoms? (Like snow for winter)

Good point. We need colors that go well with Sakura blossoms.

Hmm....pink and green isn't so bad:

A nice green is a muted fresh apple green.

I'm thinking that green might be best for Summer... Any thoughts?

Yep. Green works for summer or spring (and both). Sunflower yellow is a good summer color as well. Dusty rose, aqua, azure, sky blue, turquoise, teal and apple green are all good Spring colors (though we already have a winter blue now).

Edit: Maybe an off white with a hint of red...apple blossom-ish.

I vote for light pink as a Spring gradient! Similar to what Catgirls posted.

I have to say that little banner of the red and green eyed girls is beautiful and a real eyestopper. Kudos to Slugzilla and the other winners.

Originally, I was thinking at green for spring and dark yellow (as in sunflower) for summer.
But then Riker correctly arose the sakura blossoms issue, effectively I can't think of spring banner withouth them (kinda like snowflakes for Winter).
I don't see very well a green-pink mixture.

So taking into account Catgirls' suggestion I thought, how about something like this?

How it would look like up there:

This is just a sample by the way, sorry for quick rough elaborations ^^

how about some beach friendly colours for summer theme? A sea of bikini girls is almost compulsory in many animes whenever summer is mentioned ; )

I think that red is a bit too strong.

I can see pink and green working together if both colours are muted and not saturated.

Of course I guess everything will seem sort of washed out but the impression I get of spring is that it isn't supposed to be fantastically rich either (although once again I wouldn't know because I have never been to any country in Spring.)

I haven't followed this thread, since I am relatively new, but pretty much all of the Xmas banners up there right now are damn cool.

Congrats to the guys who made them.

kind along that line... maybe something like: ?

with some quick sakura petals for contrast comparison:

I have to agree a heavy red set would prolly be too strong especially with pink petals ruling the skies :X

green is the complementary to red ( and yellow-green to magenta/pink) so having it as a primary color of the banner should look good against the petals .... theoretically it should look the best and make the pinky petals extra vibrant o.o

Congratulations Slugzilla. It's sorta late, but you'll accept my late complements, right? ^_^

Congratz on you too Leofish and Frustra .

A big thanks to NoSanninWa (for organizing the contest) and to Catgirls (for his generosity)!

And of course thanks to all the participants! Keep up the good work! You're getting better and better each time around! ^^

You're welcome Riker! Giving feedbacks is somehow a way to increase the chance to only have good banners

Yup! Helly's very happy! ^^ I must say I've been pleasantly surprised to see Byakuya Nii-sama suddenly staring at me Ahh!! Bishies-gauge is high this time! xD!
I didn't know we had flying pigs.?

I think it's rather too bright for spring. We need a color that represents regrowth, a light green and light yellow would probbaly be nice.

Attractive choice of color. It would be a good gradient for the spring banner.

---

Also is a gradient necessary for the background, or is another type of background acceptable?

I think that this gradiant would be good for spring too.

or a little more extravagant. (Used the same background for my signature too)

ps: Maybe without the leaves ^_^.

Maybe a yellow-green gradient? Or blue-green gradient?

I like that gradient, it's exactly what I want for the banner I'm planning. It looks a bit uneven though, try using shift+gradient. I think it would be cool to have a green one too, like one for each forum skin.
