But I personally don't think Gatoh kills them off / doesnt let them see each other again. That wouldn't be fair to the fans cause everybody wants to see Kana and Sousuke together in the very end, right right? I still hope everyone will be satisfied. Anyway let's see - there's still at least one novel left.

As Gatoh is planning to do some short stories afterwards, I don't think the main novel will turn to bad account...

Short stories can be totally unrelated with the main plot.

Well IMO I sure wouldn't think it would make much closure not to have them see each other again. What would be the point of having them both grow old and/or die seperately? I can't see how that would make a ending to the main plot if Gatou went that way. [HunterSeekers right on the short stories, though. Gatou doesn't have to stick with the main characters to write those]

Of course, having them meet again doesn't mean one or both of them lives too long after that point, either . Which might fit HunterSeekers thoughts - that something is going to go very tragic here (then again I can think of half a dozen different ways this could go tragic).

Then again, I had this really wacky thought that if Gatou said they don't see each other again one of them is struck blind . That would fit the comment but I don't know what Gatou's track record is or just how wicked he'd get with this (he might think doing something like that was both fitting and funny, for all I know) .

fans probably wouldn't enjoy reading the short stories - when knowing the main plot took a tragic end. I wouldn't enjoy it for my share.

Hopefully there will be a happy ending to this, however the "no matter what the scene is" thats a bit of foreshadowing right there.

I'm thinking that what is going to happen is that there will be short stories about the ending, you know how they do movies for inuyasha, tenchi muyo and whatnot. "movie spinoffs."
However I think when I see pictures of MMD11, there will be even more foreshadowing in the pictures as well. But yea corny "I like you" convo, but what did you expect? We all wanted that, lol"

To be honest I dont think he would write short stories if he killed off either of the main characters. Seems kinda pointless considering all the short stories revolved around the couple and their chemistry toegther.

Theres the possibility that he is gonna take the route of another story i know "Metal Gear Solid" and be like "theres no happieness in war". Meaning we wont get that cheery ending. But that hasnt be the tone of FMP up till now.

It would be a shame for them never to meet up again and there would surely be a backlash if he killed either of them off.

Maybe Kaname will get shot (hopefully not) but she'll proabably live on.

I think they'll not only meet up, but have a happy ending.

No one wants to read short stories if either of the main characters are killed off and thats the fact.

It doesnt matter even if its unrelated to the main plot, once you read Kaname dies or somehting along those lines you just dont feel like reading the short stories.

If you know she/he dies and they never meet again reading the short stories (even if their unrelated to the main plot) where they have romance and comedy with great chemistry beteween them seems pointless (Thats how the reader feels).

And no one wants to read short stories about anyone besides the main couple, except that ocassional Tessa.

To summarize I believe they will have the Happy Ending were all hoping for. They both beleive they will see each other again, and a person who is determined can do anything. The foreshadowing is most likely to keep readers interest (since there is going to be a 3-4 month break where there is no plot progression, it leaves people wanting more right?), after all there was also foreshadowing revolving around Sousuke's promise to bring Kaname back to the kids at Jindai High.

The short stories will in all likely-hood follow their life there after the events once their back to every day living.

PS: The Confession scene might be cheesy but you know you all liked it, its what weve all been waiting for.

IF it really does end with them not being together at least for a little while im really interested in where the hell kaname really goes lol. I mean she has no where else to go unless I missed something, I honestly can say as hard as it is to not have them be together in the end of this series having them not be together seems to better fit the motion of the anime cause after all that struggle and then he actually gets the girl in the end seems a little to Endy, its nice to have an opening for a continuation.. But man id love for them to hook up and with the feeling of all that anxiety and distress etc... the connection between the 2 make that happy ending oh such much more sweeter but if things happen like I think they will hell keep u guessing which is what I love and hate all together.
Granted he throws in the relationship between the 2 to have the viewers feel more emotional and have a strong sense of justice in rescueing and struggling and all that jazz... but it seems to me like he never intended on them being together, I mean maybe im wrong which I really hope I am like they say great things werent meant to last and seing those two together seem like a great thing that is like a hope or dream now from the teasing fumoffu with them almost coming to the closure or admitting there love but right when you think they are he comes so close and just never gets around to it, and things that are worth having are worth fighting for and from what it seems to me is a bit much for them only saying from what hunterseeker said "I like you very much". I mean to only say just that from all the things theyve been through seem a bit understated like wheres the freakin love the intense emotional relief of feeling like all Ive been through Im gonna freakin tell you how I feel before something insane happens again.. I like you... when we meet again lets kiss, maybe its his style but I feel like we deserve a little more after all that we have and they have been through imo

I'm going to abstain from passing judgment until a better translation of these lines comes out. In fact, I'd be content on sticking to the anime for my FMP needs, since it might have a different ending than Gatoh's novels if the fans dislike it enough.

I want to say that I didn't think what you originally posted as a translation was meant to be humorus. I thought you were being serious and were posting the most concise translation you could. The problem is the translation can come off as humorus if you say it out loud in English and it is even more humorus if you are hearing it in the voice the English VA for Sousuke uses doing it. This is where the confusion on the humor came in (in other words, we thought Gatou was trying to be humorus, not you).

Still, since you suggested we double check the translation I did it through two online translation pages and here are the results.

First, what you posted earlier:

So what does this all mean? Well I think your translation was pretty much the same as the two webpages. The main difference was word choice. Yet IMO it was the word choice that lead to some readers in the thread thinking Gatou was trying to be humorus. Why? Well it is because you used the word "like" vs "love" or "delightful"

While technically "like" can be used for "love" or "delightful" the truth is that in everyday U.S. English usage "like" means something a lot less meaningful than "love" or "delightful" does. So using like the way you did in your translation made several readers confused and wondering if what was being said was meant to be humorus or just what was trying to be said by the writer

Anyway, I very much appreciate your translations. I'm sorry this month translation has caused such a ruckus. It isn't your fault. I believe the problem has been that for some of us trying to figure out why Gatou is stringing stuff on one more novel and then most likely ending it. I know I can't quite figure out where he thinks he's going with this and it is bugging me. Still, it isn't a huge deal with me so I'm not really that upset over it in the long run .
