Blackmail, to me, is out of the question. No amount of blackmail is going to be worse than being convicted of organising a rape. You cannot embarass someone who is being looked upon as a criminal. Nothing in the physical world could have made Miya keep her mouth shut; so whatever it was must be mental. Thus the only possible explanation to me is that Miya was in a one-way abusive relationship which Tomoe took advantage of. Miya lost everything; you can't blackmail someone with nothing left to lose.

Could it be that Fumi's MIP is Mashiro? |

This may not have been mentioned in any cannon material (anime or print) as of yet. Poking around on some japanese fan sites, I see what seem to be references to her gem:
擁有GEM・稱號:?(unnamed,一顆藍色的GEM) which bablefish translates as: 擁 possession GEM 稱 號: ? (Unnamed, one condylar indigo GEM) on another 珍珠GEM / 詛咒之黑耀石(瓦爾基里 GEM) which bablefish translates as: Distinctiveness 珠 GEM/詛 咒 之? 耀 stone (tile 爾 basic village GEM) But since they don't seem to agree, I'm not sure if they are just fanfic, or I am just reading them the page wrong, or if perhaps one is referring to the gem she wore when she infiltrated Nagi's Valkyries, although Wiki refers to that as: Cursed Obsidian (呪詛の黒曜石 Juso no Kokuyōseki) And the characters for that don't seem to match either of the previose names. Sorry! Best I can do. Maybe someone who can actually read Japanese can she some light on those references? Last edited by mdauben; 2007-06-15 at 19:36. |

i think she was planning it all along. been a while since i saw the series, but if memory serves correct mashiro was annoyed that the fighting started a bit early than she expected? she also recovered miyu b4 they turn against each other so that miyu could get them revived. so is say she was plannig it all along, midori only reinforced her beleifs that it was the right thing. |

Here is the full dialogue concerning this showdown. Miyu was obviously recovered prior to episode 21, but some time did pass between the meeting in 18-19 and the one in 21. It is known that Miyu was retrieved from the lake before episode 21 started (as revealed by John Smith to Natsuki), but not when exactly.
The dialogue goes as follows: (Episode 18) (Mashiro is reading a report) Midori: In that report is a story about an accident during an excavation. The name of the girl who died is Kazahana Mashiro. Mashiro: I thought I destroyed all public records, but I guess I couldn't go as far as private documents. Midori: I'm not asking that! What I want to know is who you are and what role you play. And if there is a way of stopping this foolish carnival. Mashiro: I'm on the side of those who must perpetuate the carnival, Sugiura-sensei. Midori: Sensei, eh? I thought of it as merely a checkpoint, or a way of dealing with things until my thesis was complete... But there are kids who like a halfway decent teacher like me. I was really starting to think of becoming a teacher. Therefore, I will protect them. (summons her Element) I can't waste a second anymore. I'll have you speak the truth, no matter what it takes. Mashiro: In that case, I will, too. We shall take our stance, too. Fumi (shields Mashiro): I'm sorry, Sugiura-sensei. (summons her Element) Midori: I see. (They stand against each other) (Episode 19) (The following is Midori's flashback as she is watching TV) (Fumi unsummons her Element and curtseys; Midori is lying on the floor before her) Mashiro: Sugiura-sensei, do you believe that destiny can be altered with willpower alone? Midori: Of course! Mashiro: Then please, do your very best in this situation. For the sake of the girls. (The flashback ends; Midori looks sadly at a photo of the karaoke party from episode 16) (Episode 21) Midori: What are you planning to do? Making Mai-chan and Mikoto-chan... Fumi (enters): Mashiro-sama! This was sent. (puts a letter on the table) Mashiro (reads): I guess he knew it already. Before we figured out who he was, he gave us an invitation. (summons anti-eavesdropping field) Sugiura-sensei, there's something I must inform you about. Nagi (outside): A barrier, eh? I wonder what they're talking about in there. Midori: But that's... Mashiro: Yes, that's the mystery to Ikusahime's Carnival. Midori: Lord Kokuyou. Princess Suishou. This means you're... Mashiro: You said that emotions could change destiny. Midori: Yes. Mashiro: We wish to try our luck at that. Midori: I'll go, too. Mashiro: (shakes head) I'll hand this over to you. (draws out the key to Miyu's chamber) Fumi: Mashiro-sama, she has yet to... Mashiro: Yes, but her repairs should be complete soon. (to Midori, handing the key) I'll leave the decision of whether or not to awaken her up to you. Also, two more questions regarding Miyu: 1. Is "Yggdrasil" in her designation a reference to anything else other than Norse mythology? 2. Is HiME Miyu waterproof? Otome Miyu obviously is (and can even swim), but since some time is needed to repair HiME Miyu after she is retrieved from the lake, it doesn't look like she merely stepped down and deactivated herself. 3. For that matter, why did she enter the lake in the first place? To self-terminate? To hide her and Alyssa's bodies from Searrs agents? She obviously wasn't very successful with the latter - had Mashiro not retrieved her earlier, Searrs would have found them both in the lake - John Smith did know where to search. |

The damages caused by the frost may be the reason why it took so long to repair HIME-miyu.
For the rest, i think it free for interpretations. A question, no link with which has been said before : What type of monsters is Miroku (anime one...) ? |

Thanks but... I mean, what kind of monster (Duran is a wolf, Kiyohime is a hydra, Vras a chess-horse...) is the spikey one ? It goes the same with Isaac - Alyssa's Child in the manga. |

Static Subs wrote a nice guide at the end of episode 26.
I don't have it right now, so I'll try to retranslate it from my polish version Quote:
