Basically, a project Lurch has been working on since MC0075 is Master Chief + MJOLNIR + 3-barrel left forearm gun + right forearm REVOLVER STAKE + shoulder-mounted claymore mines = MJOLNIR ALT EISEN.

Chief has repeatedly, consistently said "DO NOT WANT."

Well so far mine are all in the military.

The main reason Franz is just a 1st Lt in MC0083, after 12 years as an officer, is because he doesn't want to go up the ranks and get more paperwork, he hates being at a desk.

Aaah. In fact, that CAN happen. While Julie's years in using these personas of hers has allowed her to basically "pick out" who to use depending on the situation at hand, there will be times when she'll be faced with a situation so confusing that she won't know who to get out.

Steel grey corridor after corridor filled Tesla’s vision as she walked through one of the higher secured prison facilities in TSAB controlled space. Her goal was to interview a certain prisoner, one she had never really had the chance to look in the eyes before she was assigned this mission.

The target was a tough case. He had refused almost any form of cooperation, and only after weeks of demanding, reasoning and discussing had he allowed them to properly interview him. On the conditions that only one person was to be present and that he could choose the one to interview him.

Rounding another corridor, the Knight of the Sky finally arrived at interrogation room, where her target was already seated. Tesla calmly took place in the chair at the opposite end of the table, and turned to meet the one who had been the cause the recent chaos eye to eye.

Jail Scaglietti never flinched. “Ah, so they send the genius mind of Riot Force 6 to interview me. A pity, I had hoped to see enforcer Testarossa again.”

“You asked someone capable from Riot Force 6 to interview you, Enforcer Testarossa would have been the primary choice, but she is still in recovery from her last battle.” Tesla responded as she activated a data screen. Truth be told Fate was more then capable physically, but mentally was another story. Shamal had managed to wring out a medical excuse to prevent her from going, leaving the task to Tesla. “But let us get down to business; you have defied countless of dimensional laws, caused chaos of a rather large scale, and came close to obtaining the power to destroy the world. I am curious as to what your goals and reasons were.”

Jail smiled. “I believe I have already told you my reasons.”

“You mean the broadcast? Nice façade, but shortly afterwards you arrived with a huge Lost Logia warship that almost gave you the ability to destroy not only Mid-Childa, but many of the surrounding dimensions as well. Such actions tend to destroy an innocent messiah image.”

Jail grinned. “As an experiment created for other peoples benefit, would you not want to take revenge? I would not even have done that much damage. Just because I had the power does not mean I would have used it.” He sighed dramatically. “But then, since you people stopped me, there is no way for me to prove my words.”

Tesla was currently analyzing Jail’s words, and typing away to log the data and her analysis. “The true irony is that we were never really responsible for taking care of you, our goal was the securing of the Relics. Eventually circumstances led us to taking care of you as well. Now the Cradle is destroyed and all the sentoukijin captured. Your plans are over.”

“Speaking of the sentoukijin, whatever happened to the copies I implanted into them?” Jail asked.

“They were removed, of course.” Tesla’s answer came unfazed.

Jail chuckled. “So you willingly admit you murdered unborn life? Can you live with that shame?”

“Doctor” Tesla’s voice remained unfazed. “This kind of manipulation may have worked on Testarossa, but I have killed countless people in my existence. Twelve more unborn dimensional criminals hardly faze me.”

“Ahh, my mistake. After being surrounded by so much optimism for so long it is… refreshing to see a Bureau member with a realistic look on matters.”

Still typing away, Tesla responded. “You seem to make a lot of mistakes for someone who started of so brilliantly, many of which eventually cost you the battle.”

“hooh?” Jail’s interest was piqued, and not just at the compliment. There was something he noticed about the way this girl worked… her mind was currently divided towards several tasks. Questioning him and analyzing his answers seemed only a small portion. He wondered what else could have been so successfully in drawing away the girl’s focus. Worry? The future?

He decided to probe further.

“Yes, I’ll admit that leaving only such a small guard force on my trump card was a fatal mistake, eventually ending in the destruction of the ship.”

There! There is was, it was small, but this girl definitely had reacted when he mentioned the destruction of the Cradle.

“Such a shame, a grand vessel like that, simply blown up because I had managed to get my hands on it first. As a scientist I can only sigh in disappointment. Tell, me when you saw the Cradle in the sky, what did you think of it?”

Tesla’s mind, which had been jumping back and forth between questioning and analyzing both Jail’s questions, as well as compare the new analysis to the tactics the sentoukijin and gadgets deployed, combined with trying to solve the political backlash the betrayal and loss of Regius and the council was causing, not to mention filled with worry over her comrades conditions, received somewhat of a low blow with Jail’s query. While spiraling to come to grip with what went were, confusion settled in, which was probably the reason why Tesla answered his question truthfully.

“I would have loved to have piloted the ship.”

Jail grinned. “Did you know that the Cradle used to be the flagship of Ancient Belka? We never utilized its full potential in the battle but the magical cannons were not the only line of defense.”

“Really?” Tesla saved what she had typed so far and opened a new file. Curiosity demanded more information on the ship. And the information on the Cradle’s capabilities might be convenient archiving data for Yuuno, she rationalized.

“Yes, you see, the Cradle originally also had a point-defense system. However, it seemed that it was supposed to have been powered by mages, which is why we replaced it with Type-2 drones.”

Tesla shook her head. “That was a bad choice, Type-2’s have a low fire-rate. Was it not possible to try and link the point-defense to the main reactor?”

The conversation lasted longer then either had expected, and neither had realized it until the guards had returned and informed them that time was up. Tesla effortlessly closed her screen and got up, but Jail had a few final words to say.

As he was dragged to his feet by the guards, he smiled at Tesla. “This had been a most enjoyable conversation, captain Tesla. I do hope we can speak to one another soon.” His smile remained and his eyes continued to linger on Tesla as the guards led him back out the door and to his cell.

Tesla herself declined the offer for an escort, and exited through the other door. After rounding two corridors, though, she swiftly turned sideways and promptly slammed her head into the wall.

As the dull bang echoed into silence, and pain tingled through her body, Tesla asked herself the question she should have asked herself much earlier.

“What the hell was I doing?”

Sure, she had gained a lot of information, more so then any other had managed to draw from him, but in her disorganized state she had completely allowed him to lead the conversation, the pace, the subject, the questions. How could she have allowed that?

But most importantly, why had her heart skipped a beat when he had smiled at her?

The target was a tough case. He had refused almost any form of cooperation, and only after weeks of demanding, reasoning and discussing had he allowed them to properly interview him. On the conditions that only one person was to be present and that he could choose the one to interview him.

Rounding another corridor, the Knight of the Sky finally arrived at interrogation room, where her target was already seated. Tesla calmly took place in the chair at the opposite end of the table, and turned to meet the one who had been the cause the recent chaos eye to eye.

Jail Scaglietti never flinched. “Ah, so they send the genius mind of Riot Force 6 to interview me. A pity, I had hoped to see enforcer Testarossa again.”

“You asked someone capable from Riot Force 6 to interview you, Enforcer Testarossa would have been the primary choice, but she is still in recovery from her last battle.” Tesla responded as she activated a data screen. Truth be told Fate was more then capable physically, but mentally was another story. Shamal had managed to wring out a medical excuse to prevent her from going, leaving the task to Tesla. “But let us get down to business; you have defied countless of dimensional laws, caused chaos of a rather large scale, and came close to obtaining the power to destroy the world. I am curious as to what your goals and reasons were.”

Jail smiled. “I believe I have already told you my reasons.”

“You mean the broadcast? Nice façade, but shortly afterwards you arrived with a huge Lost Logia warship that almost gave you the ability to destroy not only Mid-Childa, but many of the surrounding dimensions as well. Such actions tend to destroy an innocent messiah image.”

Jail grinned. “As an experiment created for other peoples benefit, would you not want to take revenge? I would not even have done that much damage. Just because I had the power does not mean I would have used it.” He sighed dramatically. “But then, since you people stopped me, there is no way for me to prove my words.”

Tesla was currently analyzing Jail’s words, and typing away to log the data and her analysis. “The true irony is that we were never really responsible for taking care of you, our goal was the securing of the Relics. Eventually circumstances led us to taking care of you as well. Now the Cradle is destroyed and all the sentoukijin captured. Your plans are over.”

“Speaking of the sentoukijin, whatever happened to the copies I implanted into them?” Jail asked.

“They were removed, of course.” Tesla’s answer came unfazed.

Jail chuckled. “So you willingly admit you murdered unborn life? Can you live with that shame?”

“Doctor” Tesla’s voice remained unfazed. “This kind of manipulation may have worked on Testarossa, but I have killed countless people in my existence. Twelve more unborn dimensional criminals hardly faze me.”

“Ahh, my mistake. After being surrounded by so much optimism for so long it is… refreshing to see a Bureau member with a realistic look on matters.”

Still typing away, Tesla responded. “You seem to make a lot of mistakes for someone who started of so brilliantly, many of which eventually cost you the battle.”

“hooh?” Jail’s interest was piqued, and not just at the compliment. There was something he noticed about the way this girl worked… her mind was currently divided towards several tasks. Questioning him and analyzing his answers seemed only a small portion. He wondered what else could have been so successfully in drawing away the girl’s focus. Worry? The future?

He decided to probe further.

“Yes, I’ll admit that leaving only such a small guard force on my trump card was a fatal mistake, eventually ending in the destruction of the ship.”

There! There is was, it was small, but this girl definitely had reacted when he mentioned the destruction of the Cradle.

“Such a shame, a grand vessel like that, simply blown up because I had managed to get my hands on it first. As a scientist I can only sigh in disappointment. Tell, me when you saw the Cradle in the sky, what did you think of it?”

Tesla’s mind, which had been jumping back and forth between questioning and analyzing both Jail’s questions, as well as compare the new analysis to the tactics the sentoukijin and gadgets deployed, combined with trying to solve the political backlash the betrayal and loss of Regius and the council was causing, not to mention filled with worry over her comrades conditions, received somewhat of a low blow with Jail’s query. While spiraling to come to grip with what went were, confusion settled in, which was probably the reason why Tesla answered his question truthfully.

“I would have loved to have piloted the ship.”

Jail grinned. “Did you know that the Cradle used to be the flagship of Ancient Belka? We never utilized its full potential in the battle but the magical cannons were not the only line of defense.”

“Really?” Tesla saved what she had typed so far and opened a new file. Curiosity demanded more information on the ship. And the information on the Cradle’s capabilities might be convenient archiving data for Yuuno, she rationalized.

“Yes, you see, the Cradle originally also had a point-defense system. However, it seemed that it was supposed to have been powered by mages, which is why we replaced it with Type-2 drones.”

Tesla shook her head. “That was a bad choice, Type-2’s have a low fire-rate. Was it not possible to try and link the point-defense to the main reactor?”

The conversation lasted longer then either had expected, and neither had realized it until the guards had returned and informed them that time was up. Tesla effortlessly closed her screen and got up, but Jail had a few final words to say.

As he was dragged to his feet by the guards, he smiled at Tesla. “This had been a most enjoyable conversation, captain Tesla. I do hope we can speak to one another soon.” His smile remained and his eyes continued to linger on Tesla as the guards led him back out the door and to his cell.

Tesla herself declined the offer for an escort, and exited through the other door. After rounding two corridors, though, she swiftly turned sideways and promptly slammed her head into the wall.

As the dull bang echoed into silence, and pain tingled through her body, Tesla asked herself the question she should have asked herself much earlier.

“What the hell was I doing?”

Sure, she had gained a lot of information, more so then any other had managed to draw from him, but in her disorganized state she had completely allowed him to lead the conversation, the pace, the subject, the questions. How could she have allowed that?

But most importantly, why had her heart skipped a beat when he had smiled at her?

Vita... it seems like she still bears the scars there... And Zafira has been-un-shafted at last!

And of course, the plot is moving in an interesting direction! I'm liking this TSAB-wide coverup.

Yes, you better not. Since reputation notwithstanding, Nighty is in NO WAY excempt from HAXXbusting. He just seems to be meticulous to not over-HAXX his works and at other times, gives good enough material to justify whatever HAXX he gives, i.e. Saga, whom despite being SS+, quite honestly, is nowhere near as HAXX in concept like some other works that have been there in the past.

I decided that there was no way Vita could come off light from that event. After all, she even mentions that the Wolkies are becoming more human with each passing day. Vita, thus, has some troubles. She's a little bit less on the tsun-tsun side because of it.

But in your case, you works are DIRECTLY CONNECTED to ours. So if we think it won't compute for the joint world, then no. I.E. More important than the branched ones. Since for example, I just can't suddenly let your characters have such uber-high potential gadgets from Aurion when in my fanon, he doesn't even make those.

Kha is another example - though 99.99% of the stuff he puts out there is crack anyway...

I tried asking people to stop embedding Youtube videos and huge pictures, and link to them instead. It worked for about three to four hundred posts, and then people forgot.

The thread seems to go according to certain phases and trends, based on the interests of the participants. For example, right now (for a long time) there's a lot of "hard" (as opposed to "soft") military-themed discussion and ideas being thrown around, because some of the more outspoken OC authors (Wild Goose, Kagerou, AdmiralTigerClaw... am I missing anyone else?) really like military stuff. Previously, it was Warhammer 40k stuff, for exactly the same reason. And before that (or was it after that?), it was Command and Conquer. Personally, since I don't care much for most of it, and they don't really impact my story, I'm keeping out of them.

And then there's the "fad" stuff, which is when an idea allows OC authors to apply it to their own OCs. Recently there was the "200th Hour" thing, which was when a character in an active military unit screws up. (I didn't take part in it, because my characters are not in active military units. They have desk jobs.) Earlier, there was tshouryuu's "everyone beat up Tais" (his OC) challenge. (Which I did take part in, although by now it's non-canonical.) These are always good for a couple of hundred posts revolving around the same theme.

Terms to know:

Outer Cadia: This thread. Stands for its initials, "OC". It's not the official name, but people seem to like it.

Bluecheese/Bluecheesium:


A lot of text. I forget where the term started, since by the time I first saw use of it (when the thread had double single-digit page counts) it seemed to be well-established. Bluecheesium is supposed to have the property of being "epic" or some such, but that is very subjective.

Crack: References: What the thread calls "references". I call them "crossovers". It's a point of contention. Basically, it's when the author inserts all sorts of references to other series or fandoms or media. It becomes "crack" annoying when the references are obvious, and well-received. (Full disclosure: I personally disapprove of this, but it's not like anyone's forcing me to read them.)

Crack:


Epic: Something impressive. As mentioned, very subjective.

Backlog Breaker: A post which tries to deal with points raised in the backlog. "Backlog" is obvious, "Breaker" comes from the spells from the canon itself (Starlight Breaker et al).

Ion Canon: A deliberate misspelling of "Ion Cannon". Means facts and plausible interpretations from the canon which may cause problems with our original characters.

Scrin Modership: A deliberate misspelling of "Scrin Mothership", from Command and Conquer. Refers to the moderators. This thread was originally closely-scrutinized by said moderators, since they weren't sure that we wouldn't just descend into pointless overpowered original creations. After the thread started growing, they left us alone, until recent times, when various events made them more wary of us. The actual term seems to have fallen out of use.
