For example it is common to say 'read the rule damn it' everytime some noob asked questions. Now if its me I will stay away from this forum. Don't want to name names but people can get really rough on this forum.
Sometimes I think your right, but I also think it partially depends on what rule they are breaking. If someone post in the wrong forum and it's one of their first few post I don't think people tend to be mean (or should'nt anyways). But if someone's first post is "Where can I download the Naruto manga" or "Where can I download Evangelion" or post obvious flame bait, then people let them have it. Personaly I don't mind since the second one probably only joined to find licensed anime and the rules are very plain about that. But posting in the wrong forum or a question that's already been covered, I think people should be more forgiving (at least I try to be).

EDIT:

i'm sure nobody's mean intentionally, when they cared enough to reply to your thread or fix your mistake(in this case, lock your thread etc). it's just your misconception of things, we're all like a family here, the ones acting mean are probably just being jelous of you getting too much attention from the mods. Heh.

Anyhow, welcome, new member. I'm your fellow noob friend.

I think you are abusing of this "I joined tot months ago" excuse.

No one will be "mean" if you read the rules and follow them. One month or one year doesnt matter.

The reason that some people have been mean is that you've posted without thinking. Asking about the rules because you are too lazy to read them yourself is no way to earn anyone's respect. Please try searching for some of your own answers before asking questions. Perhaps you should lurk for a few days to learn how we do things here before you barge through, posting in all directions.

Really not our problem. We get about 1000 posts a day, so we really don't want to risk any more lurkers becoming posters. Maybe if you can find an article on how to turn pointless posters back into lurkers we'd be interested.

I think the people on this forum are awesome Tons of cool people here...
Yeah try not to avoid reading the rules... they actually help answer alot of your questions and also you'll know what is not ok to do and what is ok. Same with asking questions... try the search button to look for your answers as it may have been already asked once before and answered. I think people just get a little frustrated when everyone starts asking the same questions over and over again without even trying to see if it has already been answered on the forums. Don't take it too harsh... you just gotta hang around for awhile and get a feel for how it is around here... I'm sure you'll like it.
The mods are strict around here only because they wanna make this forum a cool place to be at... I've been to too many forums where its not regulated and all there is is porn (not that there is anything wrong with it but this IS a anime forum).. people start getting rude and out of control... and then threads gets repeated over and over again... Once you get to know the mods... they are ALL (not trying to kiss @$$ - ) pretty cool! And as long as you follow the rules... then they are happy
But anywhooo... Welcome to AnimeSuki! Pull up a chair, grab a nice cup of hot cocoa and hang out with us for awhile... we're not all meanies Once you get to know all of us better... I'm sure you'll change your mind about your experience here. Granted there will always be a few #@$!@$ here and there but hey... just ignore them and enjoy your stay here at AnimeSuki.

Happy Holidays Everyone! Big Huggggsss!

みんな,いらっしゃい!

I only go to a few forums but those forums are quite good.
I like this one because when I post, I can expect (for the most part) rational responses rather than idiotic name-calling.

At Toriyamaworld I blasted this one guy who
• created a thread pretty much saying 'do my japanese hw'
• registered the same day he posted, meaning he registered JUST to get someone to do his hw FOR him

and I got pissed and him. I feel kind of bad about it NOW, but that's just my personal experience with treating n00b's badly. I'm sure most people don't feel very bad.

At Team Integra, well, I'll just blatantly steal part of their site guidelines w/o permission (shhhh)
*You don't necessarily HAVE to read this whole blob of text, just reference it with my comments below*

Previously Covered/Discusssed
Welcome to TI.net. We hope you learn a lot from being a member of our site. We appreciate members who are willing to put in the effort to learn on their own and willing to share their real experiences rather than what they "heard".
There is a box on the top right of the any Forum that looks like this.

As the site has been in existance for a long time, we've covered a lot of basic topics like this before and instead of rehashing them, we ask you teach yourself by referring to these common topics first...including one on ______________(place the rehashed topic here). You may want to click that first and check out all this basic stuff first, your question may very well be answered already.

If you can't find a topic related you what you are interested in, then I suggest you next try the to the left of your webpage in the menu...
Lots of good detailed info there, most with pictoral demonstrations to help you learn what's going on.

If that fails to cover your question, then I suggest you then try the search function on the left

Enter more than one term related to your topic of interest and choose Forum Body in the box below the Search term box. These 3 things are our "library" of info here with lots of info available that will probably answer your basic or even some advanced question(s). We ask that you try those first before posting basic questions. It saves us from answering over and over the same questions and would be appreciated. it keeps the board fresh and progressive and not stuck and stagnant. If you can't find what you need after using these 3 libraries or don't understand something from these 3 sources, then the members and mods will be glad to help you in the forums. Thanks and enjoy our website. we think it's unique as far as Honda-oriented websites go and we're pretty proud of it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, they have three ways to find answers. It's a virtually foolproof system, yet people continue to post what's already been covered/discussed in 11-page long threads. So, when I see every fourth thread on the Naruto forum start out as / turn into 'Sharingan vs Byakugan' or 'Jiraiya vs Oro', I get a little disappointed.

I would say if you want to resurrect an old thread, even one that's two or three years old (which doesn't exist on this site anymore, but will one day) then resurrect it rather than starting a new one. It shows you searched and leads to less locked threads. Leading back into the Naruto forum as an example (it's where I usually am), if something comes up in a new chap/ep that affects an old thread, I would rather see someone revive the old thread with a new discussion point.

With this many members, there are definitely cool people as well as jerks. I tend to flip-flop between the two (p.s. I'm counting on you guys to tell me when I'm being an *sshole)

But anyway, yeah, my advice would be
read a lot
read a lot
post a little
