Chapter 41 has revealed a good deal about Kaname and pretty much supports what I've been thinking for a while;

that everything Kaname has done, all his secrecy and planning, was truly to protect the good vampires and the dignity/honor of their bloodline. Chapter 41 also shows that Kaname isn't selfish enough to do all this dirty work just to save the woman he loves but to save her, his clan, and give them all a peaceful/hopeful future to live in - possibly at the cost of his life.

Behind a veil of shadows, Kaname has been working hard - and like he said to Shizuka - he has decided to enter the gates of hell alone. I believe his seemingly cold and distant attitude towards the night class is not because he doesn't trust them (and Kain voices this in the chapter) but because he does not want to drag them down a bloody path of death, which he has condemned himself to, for the sake of all the others. He knows the other night class vampires are loyal to him, more than simply because he is a pureblood, so the only way to make them turn back is to pretend that he doesn't care about them - in other words, make them hate him in order to protect them.

Kaname's beckoning of Yuuki to come with him is probably the last and only selfish act he will do. Letting her go, he knows it is probably the end. Kaname probably believes that he will not be able to come back to her - although she may return to him. I guess all he wants to know is that she will return to him - dying with the knowledge that the woman you've loved all these years truly does love you in return.

I think Rido probably stifles Kaname's power, which would explain why Kaname's full power has not awakened. Since he cannot kill Rido himself, he needs Zero to kill Rido and set him free. Only with his complete power, can Kaname defeat the entire vampire council. In this way, Kaname and Chairman Cross are alike: they wish for peace but they themselves are sacrifices to obtain that peace for others but they will not know that peace. Kaname is the only one who can defeat the vampire council and Cross may be the only one to defeat the Vampire Hunters' association.

The Hunters' collaborating with the vampire council is a cruel political ploy to keep their positions. If peace between vampires and humans occur, the Hunters won't be needed and thus their association will lose power. It is a bit more tricky to understand what benefits this alliance would bring to the vampire council but I think Kaname's group with their herectic idea of peace with humans is a threat to the vampire council's authority over vampires. In the council's eyes, they are probably like rebels. If there were peace, I'm sure many vampires will start to drift away from the vampire clan, think more independently and therefore will no longer listen to the vampire council. What is the best way to maintain authority over a group of individuals but to provide those individuals with a common goal, and that goal is to hate humans. That hatred which the vampire council continually preach and fuel is the glue that plays a roll in holding the vampires together but more importantly holds their support of the council. So the Hunters and the vampire council want to create a war between vampires and humans, destroy any possible means of peace, instill greater hatred and fear, which all functions to help them keep their command over humans/hunters and vampires, respectively. Like I said, dirty politics. Plus, we have been given a hint that the vampire council may not be purebloods but they want purebloods' blood and power.

Kaname and Cross knows this, and they know this war threatens those they love. So these two have dirtied their hands to protect their beloved.

I fear that either or both Kaname and Cross may fall. Although they are not front and center in the manga, they are the driving force behind the entire plot. Without Kaname, Zero will still rely on Yuuki and not bother to stand on his own two feet. (Hell, he even needed his younger twin to give him a dying lecture to make him stand T_T - even his sensei had wanted to shoot him because he looked so pathetic moping like that.

). Being cunning and manipulative doesn't mean you are bad (it means you're being realistic); it all depends on what your objectives are. In this case, Cross and, especially, Kaname have to be cunning to beat those conniving hunter and vampire heads in order to protect the people they care for (I don't think honesty and a chocolate cake would work with these guys).

I agree with Queeny, the second hand on the cover could be another side of Yuuki. By the way, Cross is hot in this chapter isn't he? More so then before.

I don't know about kaname cuz all of us know he works in the shadow like
the chairman .. so both of them might die .

Kaname always seems to be one some soap box, especially in chapter 41. Trying to keep Yuki by his side and make her listen to him by using guilt and pity: "I already lost someone, do you want me to loose another?" Blah blah blah, talking and acting as if he is the only person who has lost someone, nearly all everyone in this manga has lost alot....EVEN I HAVE LOST MORE THAN HIM! Anyways.....I don't even know what to say about Yuki....she's just...ugh.....

I just want to see Zero do some ass whooping!

Presage I too love reading your views about this chapter.Personally I prefer Yuki to be the Vampire Knight .The story revolves around her after all. Rido obviously wants her and the council probably wants her too,That's why her existence was kept a secret. So there must be something more to her.I really want to see some girl power. I hate the damsel in distress stereotypical heroine. I hope that she can be equally powerful as Kaname and Zero and will fight side by side with them and not be nuisance during the fight . And also I really hope that Miss Hino would end this story the way she wants it to end and not be influence by pressure or the preference of different fans or by her publisher . It’s her story and I hope that she ends it the way she wants it to be, coz that would make it more original, more meaningful and truly gratifying.

all what I want a good ending , and I really hope Hino ends the story as the way
she wants .. we don't want her to hurry because the anime ver ..

also I want to see the power of Yuuki ~
and also the others cuz we didn't see anything , I mean the class night
since she didn't show us the power of the others characters .. so I think it's
the time for that ..

Yes I would love to see Yuki in action as well. I really hope she stops that role of damesel in distress and for once does the saving

You know, going back and looking at the ending to chapter 41, I would say you might not be wrong in wanting Yuki to be the Knight - Artemis turning into what looks like a deathsythe could possibly mean that she may probably be the Vampire Knight after all. It's quite obvious that she has chosen to stay and protect the night class and the day class. Comparing Zero's, Kaname's, and Yuki's position now, Yuki seems most Knight-like of the three. I may even go as far as saying that Yuki is more powerful than Kaname, which is why the other vampires are after her so much. Actually, after answering Solarknight123, I am more certain that Yuki is more powerful because she was able to transform and gain command over an anti-vampire weapon, while Zero and Kaname probably cannot.

But it seems that Zero won't let Yuuki go either - so it may end up that Kaname and Zero may fight over her. But lol if her human girl friend, Yori, ends up as the winner - she seems to be appearing a wee bit more in the past two or three chapters. But, frankly, Yori is currently the only one who accepts Yuuki as Yuuki (vampire and human).

will yeah after ch 41 , I won't be surprise if yuuki is the vampire knight !!
but why did they name the 2nd season in anime ver : Vampire Knight Guilty !!

I think it's mean something !! a hint maybe !

I think yuuki now only think about protecting her friends and specially yori ..

Althougth i do have a question Spoiler for ch 41: Did Yuki transform Artemis knowingly or was it unexpected? I mean i can't tell if she's looking at it with shock or just simply looking at it.
