If anything - it looks totally like Scrapped Princess. No FMA was near during creation, thats for sure. |

Hmm, Gonzo sure likes war or war-like animes no? They have Pumpkin Scissors, Kiddy Grade, Trinity Blood, and....Evangelion yes?
-- Just finished watching the first ep. Man, that was good The whole army style reminds me of FMA (with that matching drum beat too). So he has to open the lamp for him to fight?

I found the first very enjoyable, so I am really looking forward to more. Thank you Eclipse for subbing this series.
The setting established is intriguing, so I'm hoping that one of the central plots included involves the world development element. And of course, more Pumpkin Scissors. |

My thoughts on the first episode:
Pumpkin Scissors Let's give that name a minute to sink in. It's okay to use this minute to laugh as much as you feel is necessary. ... ...... I don't care why the name was chosen; it still sounds rediculous and a bit random. Not saying there's no method to the madness, it's just that I don't see it at this point. Now, then. On with it. OP: I'm not sure if I like the song yet. It reminds me a bit of Shakugan no Shana, which isn't really a good thing. The video's interesting and properly synched, so points added here. Characters: Alice > You. Seriously, this girl's awesome. And, doth mine ears decieve me, or is that Niino Michi's (Aaeru; Simoun) voice I hear coming from her? Perfect fit, it is. I like the big soldier guy with the scar, too. Forgot his name, though. Actually, I'm not sure they mentioned it more than once, so... yeah. Those are the only two that stand out so far, other than the dog and his handler, who are probably just comic relief. Story: I like. Well, there isn't any story yet, since it's only the first episode, but the setting is good. The faux-WWII technology and aesthetics are wonderful, and the animation is pretty. It's GONZO, after all, so that's pretty much a given. It could definitely go somewhere, but whether it will or not remains to be seen. ED: ... WTF? Random: This reminds me a bit of FMA in all the good ways; the blend of gritty realism and slightly off-the-wall anime humor especially. Fortunately, the rampant chibi of FMA is nowhere in sight (yet). I can't comment on Scrapped Princess, since I haven't seen it. Also, I really love the scenes before the OP. They set a good mood and do a great job of setting up the environment quickly and coherrently. Props go here. The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a good war (that probably will turn into much more) anime this season, this is probably it. |

Not bad, not bad at all, Gonzo + military = good. First episode was quite good introduction to the series, leaves a lot of questions open (but hopefully they are answered as the series progress).
Maids with guns in episode 2? |
