This is a good start for the anime adaptation that White Fox delivered.
Although, Aria's scene could've been better made. It gave off more of a crazy twist in the original chapter, but hey, they tried. I loved that they included that little tidbit about Tatsumi being distrusting of all after he got scammed (even the little text box next to his head!). With how this is going so far and the fact that Yen Press is releasing the manga in English, this'll probably boost sales by quite a bit. |

The pacing between the Comedy and Tragedy was a bit off but otherwise this is a very fateful adaption. I've been following the manga from almost the beginning so I'm quite excited for a 2 cour anime. Be waiting for this show for a while now.

I think everyone should realize that this adaption was based of the manga, which mean the humor scene what you saw was actually happen in the manga.
You won't understand unless you have to read the source material and see what happen. I know anime viewers won't understand and stay away from the spoiler content but still. Regardless, it's kinda faithful but with exception that some minor scenes was cut. I'm glad White Fox did a good job at least.

Interesting start. I'm not very fond of the comedy, as others, despite it helped caught me off guard when the mood switched
Let's see if 'd get used to it or if the show will reduce it a bit. I'm more suited for a more serious tone, but since this season seems to have already two quite serious shows like Tokyo Ghoul and Aldnoah Zero (waiting for Zankyou no Terror) and M3 like a carryover, so I'm more than well-disposed to AnK. For now it somehow seems to take the place of Hitsugi no Chaika in terms of mood, despite its pronounced violence. In any case I guess I'll stick with it for a while, mostly for Akame.

Interesting. I see a lot of spoilers (or rather what the mods refer to as "hints") flying around, but I was not majorly spoilered yet, aside from those hundreds of posts about "not becoming too attached to the characters" of course...
Anyway, the episode definitly woke my curiousity. A MC that is neither a living idealistic moral compass, neither an emotionless sociopath, may be quite original. Well, let's see where this goes... |

the comedy parts were okay/nothing special but i enjoyed the second half a lot and i hope the show continues on with that serious-ness for most of the series. The art is kind of ehhh but i like how akame looks.
It has an interesting premise so i'll be sticking for that Also, it kept mentioning "The Capital" "Countryside" and "corruption" that i wondered if this took some influence from hunger games(which ironically, took a lot from the japanese work, battle royale) lol. |

Tonally, it reminds me a bit of The Slayers anime (the much older one with Lina Inverse as the main protagonist). Having liked The Slayers a lot when I watched it a long time ago, it wasn't hard for me to roll with the overall tone of this show as well. So, for me, the comedy/tragedy switches weren't really a problem.
On the whole, it was a very solid and entertaining first episode.

Glad that the show didn’t shy away from the grim and disturbing nature of the villains and their deeds. Akame ga Kill deserve no less.
Also, for other manga readers like me, let’s be easy with the hints shall we? Even those subtle hints has the potential to spoil and ruin the experience for the anime-only viewers. We don’t want that, do we? So let’s do our best to make this anime experience good for everyone .
