Look guys! Another outsourced ep! Aside from that one Sushio scene it didn't even look all that impressive. Lots of low animation counts and stuff. Story was pretty damn predictable, and I can't believe they wasted an entire episode getting out of that one trap. Definitely padding now. 40% what? More like 0.4% amirite! :P
LOL GAINAX! |

Episode one was wasted on just getting out of the village. Episode two was wasted on just getting the Gurren. Episode three was wasted on fighting Viral. Episode four was wasted (period, for most people) introducing the Kuro no Kyoudai. Episode five was wasted introducing Rossiu, Gimmy, and Darry. etc. etc. And GAINAX never officially said anything about 40%. That was just a rumor. |

Aren't the glasses kinda signifying Kittan? Because after the googles change into Kamina's, they change agian similar to the main body (and legs) of King Kittan which seem like an arrow shape.
imho, with that in mind they don't seem half bad. |

The glasses reflect Starlock's symbol, which is a star. You can see the star on his trenchcoat and on the uniforms of the Great Gurren Gang - it used to be the symbol of Kamina City as well.
IMO, Simon's symbol is a star because stars are the lights that line the seams of heaven, and Simon's series theme is to "pierce the heavens" or reach the stars. |

And it's pretty obvious the glasses signify Kittan, he said it outright himself. |

I'm not saying the trap isn't significant, I'm just saying, you know, it's moving a tad slow. Come on... |
