Finally watched epi 14 and dayummmmmmm what a fight scene btwn Gilgamesh and Berserker! I do love that Gil barely changed his position and expression during the entire thing Fitting end for Rynnosuke, died with a smile on his face. Sadly now I wont be able to hear Ishida Akira anymore.

Hm. Then I kind of wonder why Gilgamesh doesn't share Tokiomi's goal there. I mean, he's always saying everything in the world belongs to him, and it sounds like Akasha is literally everything, so why shouldn't he want to acquire it?
Because to go to the Root it means leaving everything behind. It's outside the world Gilgamesh considers his. That's why he doesn't care.
Iskandar would be more interested than Gilgamesh.

I don't think the Akashic Records are something you go to. Its more like something you gain. Since its the collection of every information, it would definitely have the information on how to comprehending and remembering everything in an instant.

The hiatus is over, and, at long last, we resume this tale of tragedy and bloody treason for the sake of the seven Masters and seven Servants duking it out amongst themselves to claim the Holy Grail in the War that took place almost 20 years ago.
I have to be honest what impressed me the most at the end was Berserker vs Archer.

It was pretty ingenious and common sense that Berseker transformed the F-16 fighter plane into his Noble Phantasm to get mobile wings and going straight for Archer's ship, which obviously is amongst one of ten thousands of treasures.
But, the good gist is that Archer turned his ship into a fighter ship and the fun ensued, as Berseker desperately and madly attempted to shoot down Archer off the skies.
Of course, Archer doesn't put his title of King of Heroes to test that lightly, but the rabid dog amused him so much that he couldn't resist to join the show.
We cut straight then to Kariya vs Tokiomi...

While Kotomine loomed on in the shadow to ready for a killing blow, and I bet he was bidding his chance to either eliminate both Masters, or likely to assassinate Tokiomi. However, if both Tokiomi and Kariya are seriously going against each other in overkill manner, then Kotomine analyzed the safest route was no longer to interfere since either one of the two contestants would kill the other or both.
Now for Tokiomi and Kariya's debate over the fate of the Tohsaka children, Tokiomi laid out his point of view as a mage given his full sense of responsibility to be bound by both the duties and oaths of being a mage of lineage, hence, Kariya's in no position to berate Tokiomi for his actions to give away Sakura for adoption.
Since I, myself, am no mage, therefore, I do incline for Kariya arguing that Sakura shouldn't have been given away, or at least adopted away to the Matous.
But, I do know from the start of the series that the Tohsaka's and Matou's had a covenant agreement; this covenant stipulated that the Matous should demand a heir from the Tohsaka's, if it happened that the latter family produced bountiful heir in order to prevent the Matou bloodline of mages from dying.
Likely, I could say that Tokiomi could have thought of other alternatives like, for example, adopting away Sakura to another family of mages that weren't the Matous, and there would have been a 50/50 chance that Sakura's life could have turned out for the better or for the worse.
The problem I see is given Tokiomi's upbringing and psychological profile he's a man devoted to his bloodline, that of the Tohsaka's, and they honor their oaths and covenants so as long as their allies do not attempt to doublecross them, at least not in such a disgraceful manner that would put outright shame on the Tohsaka's.
Therefore, Tokiomi saw no other alternative because the oath was already made to the Matous, and they came first to demand Sakura from the Tohsakas; he couldn't disallow or break the covenant risking not only embarrassing the Tohsaka name, but also breaching against the good will of the Matous, and all what for him stands to being a mage.
However, there's a contradiction, althoug small one, that given Kariya's both recent course of actions and very-unmage behavior, Tokiomi scoffs at how low-breed and lowly have the Matous fallen, though he might have strictly refered to Kariya being a black sheep that rebelled against his own bloodline rather than taking responsibility and following in Zoukens' footsteps.
This is Tokiomi's long-winded explanation to say that Kariyas' actions in the first place were that triggered Sakura's current state of predicament in the Matou household.
From here on, well, this arc is going to conclude once and for all in the next episode, now that Caster got in overkill mode to fulfill the promise he made to Ryuunosuke.

Now that Ryuunosuke got shot to death by Kiritsugu, but not before marveling to realize that all the blood he needed to spill was his inside of him.
