Apparently, we're supposed to get a new opening tonight, according to Tommy Heavenly6's site. However, TV Tokyo is still listing the first opening for some odd reason.
EDIT: . . . Or not. Same opening aired. What the hell... EDIT 2: Oh wait, we got the song in the episode as an insert song. I'm guessing there's two reasons as to why we haven't gotten an actual new opening. Either the opening animation isn't ready yet or they don't want to show it yet (meaning they might not want to spoil something). These are just guesses, of course. Regardless though, the song was actually pretty decent when it was used. Just for reference, apparently the song name is PAPERMOON. Anyways, as for the episode itself, rather interesting. We got to learn some things regarding Mifune. Including, something I was seriously suspecting from him. Wasn't able to quite grasp the main objective of the episode, so I'll have to rewatch it (was sort of zoning out there so I couldn't quite catch all the dialogue). This was a fair rendition of an awesome manga fight. Some of the downtime and gags were abreviatted but that's ok, keeps the pace nice and quick. Can't wait for the actual op. The song was nice from what I heard of it, but Soul Eater's OST (as awesome as it is) guns a little too much for attention sometimes and distracts from the dialogue IMHO.

I was greatly impressed they put two whole chapters into this without cutting anything significant. The rendition of the fight was AWESOME. And the new OP (full version) as an insert song and BGM to this fight, too awesome for words.

So the new OP is the song during the fight? Awesome! Blackstar finally has a cool scene for him in a long time =P
However i can already see the bodyguard as a teacher of shibusen lol.... a guy who loves loli kids as students xD...

Was a pretty good fight that's for sure. Of course is a good chance to show just how skilled Mifune really is. Even with the new mode Black Star couldn't come close to winning this one. Long way to go in order to catch up with that guy. Looking forward to the next time they match up. Nice to see how those swords really get used in a fight.
The new OP song is great. Really added to the fight having that playing during it. Pretty good episode overall with Black Star heading out to get some revenge for Maka getting webbed up. Though luckily Sid and company were there or else that would have been the end for them.

We learned several things in this episode:
a) Sid is actually Solid Snake. Tactical Espionage Action! Also note how he saved the day in the end. He's the real hero here. b) Stein's visions of Medusa are getting sexier and sexier. c) Mifune has been retconned from a random guy in an intro episode to the premier Badass Normal. Note how he's the only person who fights without magic or soul wavelength stuff. He's just really good with swords. d) Mifune is also super-rich, considering how he can afford to just leave a pile of swords behind after a fight. Aren't katanas kind of expensive? |

1. The fight was awesome. Mifune is a true badass with a heart of gold. Black Star is way stronger then he used to be, but he coudn't and a hit on Mifune.
2. The new OP sound great, and adding it to the fight just incresed it's tempo. 3. Fanservice all around this episode: half-naked Stein training, Mifune's street look, demon-mode Tsubaki....something for everyone. 4. Loli Medusa? DO WANT!! 5. Black Star is now my favorite charatcer, and he seems as strong as Kid, if not stronger. Conclusion: SSS rank episode. |
