spring series have several excellent ones, though I believe none of them has status of the aforementioned series. Seirei no Moribito is awesome in almost everything, from fluid animation to high fantasy storyline but disappointingly, discussion is at the minimum probably due to its being pre-licensed.

claymore (fantasy), hayate (harem?/comedy), lucky star (slice of life/comedy), romeo x juliet (fantasy/romance) and terra e (sci-fi) are the rest on my watch list, that may be interesting for ya.

To add more:

Nagasarete Airantou - harem/comedy/romance
sola - drama/romance/super natural. One of my favorites that came out this year.

-> I second Romeo x Juliet btw

Thumbs up

Some current series that I am watching that I especially like:

Bokurano - Mecha/Drama about a group of school children that must use a giant mecha to defend the earth. It's not your typcial kids giant robot series, though.

Kaze no Stigma - Action/Drama/Romance about a family who can use fire magic, and their "black sheep" son who failed as a fire magic user, but after being cast out of the family returned as a powerful wind magic user.

Nodame Cantabilie - Great comedy/romance about a total "odd-couple", a guy who is a bright, handsome, talented, but slightly arougant music student who becomes involved (almost against his will) with a girl who is a goofy, sloppy, but gifted piano student. Great characters.

Romeo X Juliet - Fantasy anime based on the classic Shakespear play about two young lovers from rival families. Drama, romance, and some action.

Well, ignoring the fact that you just compared Death Note and Code Geass (Both Brilliant, in my opinion) to Naruto (which about half the series is just horrible). I'd say

Claymore
Darker than Black
Hayate the Combat Butler
Rocket Girls
Seirei no Moribito
Sola
Gurren-Lagann

are probably the best shows this season right now. And other notables include:

Kaze no Stigma
Seto no Hanayome
Heroic Age

Those three notables are really in my personal opinion, I'd definitely recommend you try any of the first 7 though, they're good.

I personally like Claymore (fantasy/action) and El Cazador de la Bruja (bounty-hunter-slice-of-life/mystic).

they've almost said it all...

just second Kaze no Stigma, Seirei no Moribito(highly recommended), Hayate and Lucky Star(hmmm this one depends on your taste )

just adding Idolmaster Xenoglossia ~ for some Mecha+loli stuff
and Overdrive ~ if you like sports anime try this
Kanon 2006 ~ if you haven't watched this... just give it a try... then you can continue or drop it...but IMO it's nice...

Well Ghost Hunt started in the fall of 06 but thats also when Death Note and Geass started too so I still say its an 07 anime. Also Kanon 06 was a fall/winter anime too. Bokurano is a must along with Darker than Black, Claymore and Kaze no Stigma

Manju must promote GH where ever she goes

The ones from this season I'm watching are:
Claymore
Darker than Black
Hayate the Combat Butler
Rocket Girls
Seirei no Moribito
Sola
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Gakuen Utopia Manabe Straight
El Cazador de la Bruja

They've all been mentioned above, so I won't go into detail about them. I'm not watching Touka Gettan, because it makes my brain hurt too much, when I try to figure out what in tarnation is going on!
