Really wonder what Ryoko wants with Shinchi. It is weird to ask him to meet her there but I doubt it is to kill him. Although I do like the way she took out those 3 parasytes pursuing her. Completely outclassed them.

Looks like Murano is going to find out the truth soon.

I believe that his reasoning was about the "average" human and the "average" parasyte. Infanticide is a terrible act for the majority of human beings. For the the majority of parasytes is synonym of "snack".

I bet Murano is gonna probably fuck everything up for Shinichi later.

Without overstating the case, I think it's increasingly clear that "Chimera Ant" has a strong spiritual kinship with Kiseijuu. There's the obvious stuff (like Munthuthuyoupi and Gotou) but much more importantly, as I get deeper into this series I see a lot of the Chimera in the Parasytes. I think there's a very similar theme of a hive mind vs. a species of individuals - the relative strengths and weaknesses of each, and the way individuality is a kind of creeping danger eating away at the seemingly powerful alien species from the inside out.

I don't think there's any doubt Togashi was influenced by Iwaaki (he might even have said so) but the parallels never seemed clearer to me than they did after this episode.

Seems to me that he wouldn't classify people who commit atrocities like that as human in the first place, similar to how people judge others similarly for whatever reason in real life.

Ryoko Tamura cements her place as the best character in the series once more. Even half-brained part of her could Troll several bystanders...Is it just me, or the empty-head Tamura looks younger, looking more like an... Airheaded Teenager.

Some criticize the static nature of fights in Kiseijuu, which usually just tentacles flailing around; I personally does not care since that isn't the reason I watch this series. I'm saying this because I love how Tamura fought, that is how a Parasite should fight: from the inside, getting under your enemies' skin. I would like Parasites from this series struck terror more with this way more frequently. But god, that female parasite just gawked mouth agape made the parasite lynch group looks even more stupider.

Something ticks me though: Are the Parasyte-connected cases under such Media Blackout that Murano don't even know about the death of Shinichi's mother?

Now...this episode is just a build up; a build-up for the next episode, and the next arc to come...

This episode flew by in a blink. When did the detectives learn of Hirokawa's group?

It was in the report the detective gave them.

My biggest question now is still what are they planning for the orignal character (ponytail girl) in Shinichi's classroom.

Still cannot wait for the next episode. Please make it right, Madhouse, at it's easily the best scene of the whole series.

I don't think there's any doubt Togashi was influenced by Kazuki Takahashi either. The guy seems fairly impressionable.

Izumi's secret might get revealed and he's trapped. He's in a real pinch!

Episode 18:

Good episode overall. Really liked how they are making Reiko more human up to her final moments. The latter part of the episode got quite interesting though imo with that Uragami guy. Got a feeling he knows Shinchi more than he is letting on.

"How can I speak to your humanity?" Wow. Pretty powerful scene. Now obviously turning into someone's deceased mother in order to get their attention is not the nicest way to "speak", but it's clear Reiko had no malice. At least compared to her disgusting reaction after finding out his mom had been murdered by a parasite.

No, this was her clumsy attempt at trying to find a bond or connection with someone she could relate to. Obviously there's no tears to be shed for Reiko's death, but it's sad to see such a fascinating character go away. I believe whatever feelings she was manifesting for the baby, she felt the exact same for Shinchi.

Not surprised Reiko used his dead mother but hey it worked. Really good epi, seems like Izumi is finally getting some of his humanity back.

Second part was interesting, wonder what Uragami will see in him.

I think it's kinda unfortunate that they decided to follow up what should have been a very emotional climax and conclusion, with a comical scene of a prisoner jerking off to a young lady.

But otherwise it was a good episode.

A part that was almost missed between Reiko and Izumi. Reiko was about to talk about the mayor parasyte when she was interrupted. There must be something significant about him as well. I wonder if he is the creator of all the parasytes?

There were a lot of clues that Reiko was discussing today that doesn't exactly make sense. However, saying that humanity and parasytes are one and the same really makes me believe that humans created the parasytes.

How will Gotou play in all of this? He is another of Reiko's creation, so that is why he shows some emotion as well. She is definitely one of the smartest parasytes, and her death will be missed.

So is Uragami a psychic, or is he a parasyte? I think he is a psychic who has a hatred towards parasytes. His death-stare at the end indicates that he really hates them. How will Migi react in this scenario? In this enclosed environment?
