I search a hardass anime like Gungrave

Hi there. Now I'm here again in search for something new. What I am looking for this time around, is anime with guns or other realistic weapons, and a good storyline. Something in the lines of Gungrave.

Something dark, possibly hardass - like Gungrave. Please give me some ideas if you have some, I might not have watched the series you suggest. Oh, and buying DVDs is not a problem, as I always save up money before posting topics in this forum . Of course, unlicensed, and avaliable as fansubs is fine too - it just has to have english text. Anime in this kind, or close to this genre I have seen are:

Black Lagoon (love)
Gungrave (love)
Hellsing/OVA (love)
Ergo Proxy (love)
Berserk (love)
Trinity Blood
Witchblade
Innocent Venus (love)
Gun X Sword (didn't really like it)
Basilisk (love)
Kenshin OVAs (love)
GITS series
Gunslinger Girl
Elfen Lied (kinda similar in a way)
Jin Roh (love)
Utawarerumono (this one is kinda on the line of this kind of anime genre..)
Noir
Blood+
Coyote Ragtime Show (love)
Higurashi (not just weapons here, but you get the point)
Chevalier

Some of the mentioned are more out there than hardass, but as long as there's lots of shooting, or weapons, it floats the way I want to go again now.

Weapons, Hard-boiled and not too much wimsy humour

Hellsing and Black Lagoon are both shows that feature hardass characters and lots of guns.

Noir, maybe. Though it's probably not "hard-boiled" ...more like dark drama with guns.

Saw that too. I added a small list of the stuff I could think of that I have seen earlier, or am watching as the series air.

Well you said you didnt want humor alot but you should still chk out Trigun since its by the creator of GunGrave (I believe), there is humor but its also dark and heavy on the gun battles.

Also Cowboy Bepop but I havent seen that whole series so it may not be what youre looking for.

Yeah, Monster is my favorite anime ever, but since it doesnt deal a lot with guns I didnt really mention it. Seen Fullmetal and Seed, but will check Wicked City .
More suggestions welcomed. Oh yeah, Trigun was kinda meh for me.

Try Ergo Proxy and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex; I haven't finished those series myself but they seem to fit your description of hardass and lack of whimsy humour

Did you try Samurai Champloo?
It's licensed, but I'm not sure if
the dvds are out already.

Good luck finding what you're
looking for.

P.S: Maybe Gantz too, but the
guns are anything but realistic.

Noir and Madlax are two gunslinging animes that has good storyline. Also, you could try watching Kiddy Grade, Burst Angel, and Black Cat while your at it.
