Still don't really like the new OP's song, but the animation is awesome ! Awesome ! AWESOME ! Did I mention it was awesome? And all the names and even the title are in english this time, for some reason. Oh and the OP spoils the identity of the masked guy (didn't think it'd be him), so you might want to skip it and watch the episode first. Liked the ED, both song and animation.

Now about the episode itself...

Spoiler:

- Mika and Seiji certainly seem happy enough right now. Good for them I guess...
- Anri . Kida teased her and Mikado so much haha.
- AWESOME FUJIWARA KEIJI COP IS AWESOME, the guy doesn't give a damn about superpowers. Dulahan or not, you've got to respect the fucking law.
- More moe moe Selty~ I find it simply hilarious that she ends up being the one scared to death
- WHAT?! Gas mask guy was Shingen? He seems far less uptight than I thought he'd be
- Izaya speaks Russian... guess I shouldn't be surprised
- More Anri
- Those damn ganguro bitches, getting really tired of them...
...ｷﾀ━━━━━━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━━━━━━ !!!!! . Nice way to end the episode, the last scene was very well done.

The new OP was okay - I just didn't find it catchy enough like the first one. However I have to say I love the new ED. The last one was just too much jpop (although does this means no more drrr towers?) for my taste.

But yeah this was an episode for buildup it seems. It looks like we'll finally get some more focus on Anri in the coming episodes, which is well needed since she's the least developed out of the three buds. The previews seem interesting enough as well.

• This episode stands for everything that I like about this series: set up episode not being boring. Plot progression not being too heavy and in your face. Just enough to keep you interested while rest don't require much attention to enjoy. In terms of progression, I say this episode has more on Kida than Anri. If anything, that last scene of the episode

  tells us that Anri's probably not a slasher (yet?) since she feels genuinely scared seeing that person bled the hell out of those girl,
  which admittedly felt really good from my perspective.
  
• On that note,
  Spoiler for 13:

  it seems the animosity between Yellow Turban and DOLLARS are building up. At this point the story, the side characters have all but confirmed that Kida used to be part of Yellow Turban. If this misunderstanding continue to build up. Looks like Mikado might have some run in with Kida soon.

Pretty well done episode. Not as awesome sauce as the last night (duh!), but I would still give it an 8.

Mmm, the new OP kind of felt like a MAD. The song didn't really fit the animation either... Definitely not something to increase the tension before the anime starts.

I forgot to say I was a bit disappointed that the users in the chatroom are now voiced by their respective characters instead of the narrator. I was really looking forward to hearing Hanazawa Kana voice them, especially Izaya... there's one thing in particular I woud have loved to hear her say.

This episode left me with the impression that Shingen is actually a pretty funny guy. He just seems so weird, that's totally not the image I had of him from his previous appearances in flashbacks. I think he might be more similar to Shinra that I thought... like father, like son.

And yeah, seeing Namie in the OP got a chuckle out of me too. She's pretty much Izaya's personal maid now

I also got the impression that the song didn't fit the animation when I first saw the OP. After rewatching it, I'm getting used to it, but I still feel you could replace the song with anything else and still get a good result...

Funny you say that because I remember a thread on /a/ early on in the series where people doing exactly just that with the first OP. Census was that the animation nearly worked with everything!

Very good episode especially the OP song. The ED song not so much. I still prefer "Trust Me" from the first half.

The surprise for me (aside from the spoilers I've seen in this forum section) was those 3 girls getting their asses handed to them... by Anri's alternate self / shadow killer / "darkness within" (???). Who knows? Can't wait to see more.

Celty and Shinra moments in the episode was nice to see again, especially seeing her embrace Shinra after she ran away from the cops.

And, speaking of cops, do you think that the biker cop, FUJIWARA KEIJI, is an intentional reference to Ken Nakajima from You're Under Arrest?

It seems like it... There is already enough anime references in here from Baccano to Spice and Wolf.

Shinra's father cracked me up. One he's wearing a gas mask which I totally forgot from earlier. Two, his reaction after Celty made those punks leave was hilarious. Celty getting all worried (assuming worried since aside from the gomen gasi part I had trouble figuring out what she was saying) and kinda freaking out cuz she was called a monster again. I think I also heard her saying something about being scared. But she was so CUTE!! Typing and shaking, I wanted to hug her.

Anyone get Rena vibes during the "gomen nasi, gomen nasi" part

Highlights of the week for me:

• -very- girly celty, to the point it was criminal

• Izaya's speaking Russian (well "supposed" to do so )... is there anything that guy cannot do? ^^"

• A very subtle detail: Mikado is more "friendly" towards Masaomi, with their relationship leaping towards proper "childhood friends" in my books (well, I was wondering when Mikado would stop calling him by his last name, now it is fixed).

• Shinra's dad is on crack

Spoiler for Episode 13:

- Mr. Traffic Cop is officially my most favorite character in Drrr!!. Uptight and lawful. No wonder Celty's scared of him. The way Celty went to find comfort in Shinra was very, very cute.

- Shinra's father is hilarious. At first when I saw him in the first OP, I expected him to be badass and all yakuza-like but he turned out to be very dorky.

- I don't like the way those Yellow Turbans cornered Kida. Heck, they even have their own colors, they aren't just some gray characters anymore. Get away from Kida, you gangsters!

- Anyone noticed that during the bullying scene, when it shifted to Anri's pov, there were... voices? Some strange voices seemed to occupy Anri's thoughts and blurred out all conversations around her... or maybe I was just looking into it too much.

- Last, those bullies got what they deserved. I hope this will be the last episode they made an appearance. Don't harm Anri, Slasher.

Loved the new opening. It's better then the 1st opening IMO.

I scrolled through the episode and it doesn't look too promising. Well I have to make my final judgments after seeing the subbed version.

I hope this 2 week wait wasn't for nothing.

BTW: The new ed was pure and utter crap, as I predicted.

Spoiler for Episode 13:

- The slasher makes me creeped out once and a while. Same with Anri's monologue.

- The first time I see Kuzuhara, I thought he was a cameo from You're Under Arrest. Then I remember the precinct is not at Ikebukuro

- CELTY. WHY YOU ARE IS SO *Caps button smashed* --- /brb fangirling Shinra and Celty much/ But oh, love the reference of the PDA/cellphone that Celty have is from Shinra. <3

- Like father like son, both of Shinra and Shingen has the quality of being a punching bag of everyone it seems! B|b

- Oh Shingen you crack me up so much despite half of your sentence are muffled and leave me with WTF SPEAK CLEARLY PLEASE face. :3 Yes, yes you are not the one who drives the bullies that own'd you there, so much for the laugh!

- ... How did Izaya understand Russian...? Wait it's because he is Izaya,sorry for the dumb question.

- Chatroom scene: Now with original users' voices sans Zaika!

- Bullying scene was... Errr... That's an elementary grade schooler bullying. I lol-ed at that, seriously

-　I never thought ｷﾀ━━━━━━(ﾟ∀ﾟ)━━━━━━!!!!! will be voiced, ever. And I laughed oh so much.

- Creepy cliffhanger is holy shite creepy. ;; *Sees genre* Did it turn into thriller or suspense somewhere? ;;

-The preview, oh God, the last preview... I somehow pictured a married couple between Shinra and Celty becoming clearer and clearer. And Shingen stop your habit of shaking head anytime! Although to be fair, I imagined a conversation between dad and his step(?)-daughter with the scene~

Episode got a 9 since it cracked me up with Shingen AHAHA. Totally did not expect Shinra's dad to be errr... Shingen. Or childish. 8D;;

Spoiler for Thoughts:

Lots of build-up for the Yellow Scarves/sth and the slasher, especially the latter. The plot seems to shift for the trio teenagers now. Masaomi is definitely linked to Yellow Scarves (although it has been hinted waaaaaaay back then, we only got confirmation now~) and Anri seems to be going to get involved with the slasher.

Though Anri monologue sometimes feel a bit cynical lots of time... But then again, this is the first time we ever see what's in her mind. But wow, never thought there will be lots of cynic thoughts there. And why she is referring herself in 3rd person? :[

Is the slasher linked to Zaika (the chatter)? The flow seems to hint so, but then, who knows, maybe Zaika is just a wacko chatter, but hey.
