Like Vexx, I was wrecked by AIR like no other anime I've seen before. It's one that I can definitely say it hurts. Grave of the Fireflies I cried over as well although it didn't ... I should say scar me as much since you get jaded by looking at world politics.

It's funny, I almost always get choked up in Cowboy Bebop - but unlike everyone else it's not at the final scene. The saddest episode of Cowboy Bebop for me is the end of episode 24 - when the "Call me Call me" song is playing and Faye's laying down in the wreckage of her old house where she's drawn the former contents of her bedroom with a stick, Ed's walking away with Ein, and Spike is looking down at her goodbye message painted on the deck of the Bebop. Gets me every single time.

Though I don't think I've ever actually cried (just like I don't usually laugh), I do have a lot of spots that get me teary eyed.
Let's see, where else: the end of Full Moon wo Sagashite, Chrono Crusade and AIR (all rather obvious), the episode in FMP!TSR after Souseke is recalled and Kaname is practically having a nervous breakdown (I believe it's the episode "Left Behind"), Fullmetal Alchemist when I realized what was going to happen to Nina and during Maes' funeral, Noir when Mirielle realizes her shared past with Kirika and again when she reads the letter that Kirika left her, the first season of Tsubasa Chronicles when Sakura puts together that she was in love with Syaoran only to forget it all over again, Tsukuyomi Moon Phase when it seems that jii-chan and Elfriede have died, the first season of Major three times (once with the mother, again with the father, and then at the very end), and more that I probably can't recall off the top of my head.

EDIT: Gah, can't believe I forgot the scene in Lamune with Nanami in the hospital.

Naruto - Waaaaaaaay back when Zabuza and Haku were dying.

Air - The ending was ultra sad.

Tsubasa Chronicle - Episode 31 I believe that was about Kurogane's past.

Air definitley, the ending of Marimite (Haru) jerked a few tears....then there was some episodes in Sailor Moon, PGSM really made me cry, and Utena kinda left me both sad and puzzled.

Ditto. The final episode, for me, was a masterpiece. It just takes your heart away.

first post... and i felt obliged to post here.

lots of good series listed before this. here's my list

depressing ones: now and then here and there, grave of the fireflies, sokyuu no fafner
ones i actually teared up: el hazard, jubei (yes i know this one is weird), rave, xxxholic

my reasons:
Spoiler:

kgne was depressing, but i was too annoyed at how everyone treated the situation to feel sorry for them. the only one i felt bad for was haruka

hah. i have a weird list.
i am gonna have to check out 'air' after this.
