Defensive protagonists

As the title says, I'm looking for shows with primarily defensive protagonists, i.e., their abilities are used more for defense than for attack.

I think examples are Mikan Sakura from Alice Academy and Touma Kamijou from the ToAruVerse, although Touma's power can also be used offensively.

Thanks in advance.

Nice. A martial artist with a shield.

Waiting for more suggestions. Many thanks.

Tate no Yuusha also has the MC using a shield as his main weapon but it's a blatant power-fantasy even more than most Light/Web Novels (The hero is betrayed, he's very powerful but everyone look down on him beside the girls in his harem, every other males is incompetent...). Take that into consideration before reading.

You should try Kekkaishi. The main character's power is to conjure barriers. Though he can use it offensively, too.

I'm not sure that Balsa in Seirei no Moribito counts as "defensive," but she might. She avoids killing if possible for complex reasons spelled out in the story. Episode 13 is especially instructive.

^ The MC there is a mage, so he can be both offensive and defensive. Nice recommend, anyway.

Not exactly, he is "Enchanter", which means that unlike real "mage" his offensive ability is close to zero.

Anyway there are my suggestions:

Angel Densetsu (manga)
Etsusa bridge (Light novel that is actually good¨)
World trigger (manga/anime)
