While the original is a 1980 arcade classic (with remanifestations on XBLA and, I guess, PSN), and there is an actual VR take in development... what is less well-known is that in 1998, it spawned an RTS treatment whose conceit was that even as the US and USSR had their Cold War on Terra, a competition of a hotter sort was unfolding out in the Big Black over a certain alien material. Having played it, I for one thought the implementation well done, and it was a shame that everyone - including Activision - apparently forgot about it.

Well, almost everyone.

It turns out that Rebellion's plans on revitalizing the IP include remastering this as well.

Omg, I loved that one with a passion! The second game wasn't as good as the first (story wise). But I still liked it.

Well, there's a closed beta test coming up on 5 Apr.; I was pleasantly surprised to receive an application earlier today.

I wonder if BZ2 wil also get the same treatment, but to be honest, the only thing I like in 2 is: Resourcing and Air Units. But in terms of bases and ground units, BZ1 wins. GIVE ME BACK MY GODDAMN LIGHT TANK THAT CAN FIRE MISSILES!

Well the units I like in BZ2 are: ISDF: APC, Bomber and the Scion: Artillery, Stationary Defense, and General purpose tank.
