Well, they don't take baths all day. But apparently someone (or rather, several someones) seems to think they aren't cynical enough. "How dare you enjoy a fulfilling ordinary schoolgirl life?! We must turn you into traumatized war survivors teetering on the edge of PTSD who have to drink yourselves to sleep at night!"
I also notice that angsty new girl with the claw-hand-thing doesn't seem to be in any of the previews or key visuals or other such materials we were shown prior to the series airing. Is she, perhaps, less important than she seems?

If you have a PSVR, this series is actually doing something really cool with the 360Channel video app. The episode plays in a virtual classroom with several of the girls watching:
Spoiler for images:
They actually look at you if you stare at them The app is free on the Japanese PSN store if you want to try it out (you'll need to set up a Japanese account first). This show's not on my radar, but this is quite the unique viewing experience so I'll check it out if they add more eps (it might just be a one-off to promote the show).

Dear lord, that one girl really is just Miria
Anyway, this definetly feels like Ange Vierge, that is, lots of girls being silly while ocasionally kicking butt while wearing colorful stuff (and I do like the outfits). Should be good for some fun. Quote:
As for the new girl, apparently she's an original character, that is, one that doesn't appear in the game, so that's most likely why. Here's a fun fact: apparently the game has younger versions of the two female teachers as well. |

Hmm... Google image search for Miria... you probably don't mean the Claymore character... Oh, an iMAS girl? *looks through the episode* Hmm... there is a girl wearing yellow who has short pigtails that looks a lot like her...

Episode 1 of this is one of the most hectic anime episodes I've ever seen. I mean, it's an incredible parade of quick scenes with sharp cuts. The core overarching story of the episode isn't hard to follow, but there's an awful lot going on in total.
I liked Miki. I liked Subaru. The cast as a whole seems fun, but it's just such a big cast thrown right at me full-throttle that it's hard for me to get much of an impression from most of the characters. Episode 1 did have a few very nice moments, so there are some flashes of talent on display here, but I wish some scenes were allowed to breath a bit more. The ending was pretty strong anyway. It creates a decent point of interest for watching more. As for the main story - The monsters being fought here are kinda underwhelming, so far, so that drains some suspense and tension out of the adult dialogue for me. I mean, there's no real sense given that things could conceivably go very badly if the girls don't take things more seriously. So at a drama/suspense level, it didn't work that well for me. Action scenes have decent spectacle, anyway, and the character designs are largely very good.

Average first episode, liked it more than Schoolgirl Strikers. The beginning had potential but I found the colleration between the fast pacing and the large female cast to be contrived and I don't like the transformation scenes. However, the fighting animation is refined and many characters are likeable for me. Visuals are ok but nothing spectacular to say, but the coloring is vibrant. Music by kz (livetune) is great and I like the composition and arrangment of many tracks played in. The setting look about as typical as it can get but I like how it is going so far. As far the dialogue go, it appears that the girls are outright strong and almost always remain on duty seeing how the teachers also act like battle advisors to them. The ending had a suspense and I'm wondering if Misaki is truly Miki's sister considering they share the same haircolor and eyes. The balance of school comedy and action is more consistent than SS and while nothing is really explained for now, I like the overall terminology. Will continue watching and I feel like this is very enjoyable, will probably try playing the game.

Watched episode 1:
Hmm, good enough first episode. So many characters it's a bit hard to remember all.. but would probably start to be more familiar with them as more episodes get released. To start, I like the student council girl who wants to close down the 1- person clubs. I hope she gets more screentime later.

I have taken a liking to several of the characters. The show itself is fun enough for me to follow but it would be great if they could actually explain what the heck these enemies are. The people were running for their life but overall I didn't get the feeling of danger. I hope we get some higher level enemies later.
