Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.
Light novel 'Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.' (I hate being in pain, so I think I'll make a full defense build.) is getting an anime adaptation. Plot Quote:

Sweet. Just goes to show what happens when you don't allow for for a "divide by zero" edge case.
I like the look of this, going from the first episode. Maple is maybe a bit too genki-girl for my dissolute tastes but the game world is delightfully imagined -- the "apple" Attack Bunny was a nice touch.

Agreed, there is a small subset of vrmmorpg manga where the mc, makes a trashy build because he/she is super casual and that build ends up breaking the game. That's kind of the point. the other one I remember right now is about a middle aged guy who chooses some random skills (kicking, archery, whip) whom all are considered inferior to swords/magic, he does that because to him this is just a stupid game to waste time and he only plays 1-2 hours during weekdays a little bit more during the weekend.
And for the first arc, they are inferior; he does not really break the game until the devs realize nobody is playing the archer, martial arts and whip build so they buff them up, which ends up giving the mc a triple buff. |

I remember reading some of the WN for this back in the day and from my recollection the anime is basically the same plot. It's a bit like fast food I guess - it's okay once in a while but I wouldn't want to eat such things every day. Basically, it's a bit of mindless fun.
It's a shame that Only Sense Online hasn't gotten an anime. I think it deserved one more... but I guess it just never worked out or wasn't popular enough. |

Got around to watching this and yeah, the game is a bit broken. Not in things like the character make, just like it's almost always going to be possible to find some kind of bug in a game it's not that uncommon to have the possibility for a broken character build. Devs try to avoid it as much as possible but it's really difficult to make things perfectly balanced. And I'd assume they added in a few tricks like speed reduction when agility is too low to discourage excessively unbalanced characters.
What strikes me as broken is the speed with which skills are granted. It shouldn't be possible for a player to obtain 100% poison immunity from a low-level boss's attacks, at least not the number of attacks you'd see in the time it'd take to use up a pack of potions. Unless these things happen by chance, with a certain probability of gaining/upgrading skills with any hit... |

The game probably hasn't been out very long, as it does clearly need some rebalancing efforts. Though several of the things Maple does require a pretty weird mindset to do. Letting a monster wail on you non stop for an hour without killing it or it killing you to get a skill. Or just out right EATING a monster you're fighting. That Maple is one demented girl.
I suppose I was looking forward to this series because I wanted a light hearted series about MMORPG without the other plot points in it. Like death game, the game becoming real. Just a for funsies story about a goofy girl and her friends enjoying a game.

Since I actually buy the books for this series, I think the first episode was pretty good though it is clear they are trying to stretch a small budget (I mean, status bar bouncing?)
I think the author admitted that this was something of a fluff piece for him, but hey it got an anime. And to be fair to the game, there are lots of little hints that the game is actually quite well made (for example, allowing the rabbit to kill itself and that bee to impale itself on the blade), and ... the rest risks spoiler territory. |

One of the anime's I have been looking forward to watching the most this season.
Wow she is like a super Metapod, it was pretty funny watching her against those monsters, just stand there all day, gain lots of bonuses and eventually win, quite the way to make a strong character. I'm surprised she didn't put anything into her speed considering she talked a lot about being so slow at the beginning or her adventure. Wow again watching her eat that enormous hydra, and she gets skills and attacks from it just like Spoiler:
Risa is going to get a big shock when she finally logs in and sees how powerful Maple has become.
