Eh? Noble society is against incest? They're often the main ones promoting it! Eg Ptolemaic Kingdom or Hapsburgs.

Hmm. If there's not some strong reason in-world why mere 2nd cousins are too close, that sounds kinda bonkers by Earth standards. If anything thicker blood would be considered a good thing in many medieval societies! (Generally, the more royal blood the better...) Even by modern Earth standards, 2nd cousins isn't that big a deal.

Or do you mean that those against it are really opposing it for political reasons? (eg makes their own claim to the throne harder)
