All the characters in the anime carry it and I have yet seen it done a useful thing.

Kurenai, when she said "nice kakashi" and reached for a kunai under the water, while fighting against itachi, also the kunai when she used genjutsu, the tree

Tenten and her amazing weaponry of kunais =P

Naruto and his throwing of kunais at various characters in battle

It's been thrown by many other characters, but not one useful thing came out of using it >.<

They are weapons -- inanimate objects. The usefullness of it depends on the user and the circumstances. How useful is a gun if you can't aim?

So far we've seen them be used on several occasions. The only problem is because they are any ninja's primairy weapon a lot of counter tactics have been devised, i.e. Kawarimi. Their use is shifted to mostly for killing or wouding silently than as a primairy weapon nowadays I guess. So their power now rest on how they are used instead of just throwing the Naruto-Style.

The Fundamental Law of Kunai's is that they'll only ever kill someone off screen. Anytime you see anyone get hit by one it turns out to be kawarimi or something. When you see dead bodies though they're covered in kunais and shurikens. My theory is that after beating somebody they stick the corpse full of kunais to make them seem useful.

Basicaly if one can throw a kunai at you and kill you in one hit you are a pretty weak-ass ninja. (also why we don't see them in the anime, they all already got hit and died so they aren't around anymore).

i dont think it really kills anyone (unless you throw them at their head or somethin.) i think it just slows an enemy down.

They seemed to do a good job of pinning Zabuza against a tree.
Also the thousand years of pain with an explosive tag was used on Gaara.
A Kunai removed poison from Naruto's hand.
Sauske stabbed himself in the leg with one to get him to move out of the way of Orochimaru in the forest of death.

Like someone said, a weapon is not useful, unless you know how to use it..
also, I dont think Tenten got proper respect. I mean, she's supposed to be an expert with weapons, and she was put up against Temari, so now everyone thinks she's just another Sakura type. I think she's stronger than that, though. She just wasn't given a proper chance to show it.

Yeah, I think the flak jacket also helps lessen the damage even if the kunai does manage to hit its target.

well... i think yur avitar is hot

like every1 said .. kunias and shurikens have been pretty affective.. it stoped haku when hit him in the mask.. they stoped oro from attacking sasuke.. exept i dont know why naruto didnt hit him in the back, the anbu have used them pretty affectivly ... and like they said in the stadium battle. and there are a few other instansces i think
