I will have some pictures of a ipod video 60GB v PSP in a few days time. My friend got one for xmas, but is was DOA, so he is waiting for the replacement.
Oh if anyone has any tips for re-encoding a video for an ipod could you let me know. I'll be comparing some fansubbed stuff concentrating on the subs |

just got a ipod video and put a episode of anime on it, and its amazing! the only bad thing is since the ipod screen isnt 16:9 like a PSP , you'll have to deal with the black bars on the top and bottom if the anime ur watching is 16:9 otherwise its perfect. you can see the subtitles relativley well but i have very good eyesight so maybe for some people it will be harder to read. Now, my PSP wont really habe a use anymore, except for games. I really wish the PSP had a hard drive instead of having dinky 1-2 gig sticks, otherwise i would stick to my PSP. So if you a music buff and like to watch anime on the go and u have $300 - $400 to spare, u should definetly pick up a ipod video.

My personal opinion is that I don't see how the screen on an iPod Video can possibly be big enough for comfortable watching of subtitled anime. On the other hand, I have successfully used my PSP for watching anime with no problems. With both devices, however, you have to re-encode your anime, since although some fansub groups are now producing H.264 versions they are typically not in a compatible resolution and format for use with portable devices.
As far as actually converting videos is concerned, I believe the makers of PSP Video 9 also make an iPod Video converter app. |
