good "new" anime

I've seen lots of old 90's anime on tv and I know some of the new ones are like unoriginal/boring and what not... just wanna be catched up on good "new" anime

Some of the ones I like 90's:
Akazukin cha cha
Battle Athletes Victory
dash! kappei (80's)
Iron Leaguer (robots playing soccer
juni senshi bakuretsu eto ranger
kaitou saint tail
kodomo no omocha
Onengai Samia
slayers (also next, try)
Yadamon

New ones I've seen
azumanga daioh (the jokes just weren't "that" funny, I couldn't finish it; ep 6)
cheeky angel - this one has an interesting plot and funny to me
peach girl - interesting but I wasn't that "interested in it", couldn't finish it; ep 3)
naruto - I like it, it's pretty funny.
mahoraba- sorta funny, decent anime
gakuen alice- I like this one, it reminds me of kodocha
Ginban Kaleidoscope- full moon wo sagashite wannabe, it was just okay.
Full Moon Wo Sagashite- loved it since the last eps were really good.
fruits basket - overall good but overrated, sort of a drag watching it at times
jungle wa itsumo hale nochi guu - loved it... guu's the best.
love hina - wow this was the most unoriginal, unfunny, cliche -- in short i hated it... almost made me lose faith in new anime.

Looking for a funny/interesting anime, or just a good anime (doesn't have to be funny)
but I don't wanna see too much violence like blood or fanservice.

New ones I suggest:
Mai Hime and its sequel Mai-Otome
Bleach

Now, these ones are not new, but you should try and look for them :
Tenjou Tenge
Fulll Metal Alchemist
Hunter x Hunter

Given the list you provided, you would probably enjoy Honey and Clover.

If you liked Gakuen Alice, you'd probably like Gokujou Seitokai. And I, also, recommend Honey and Clover.

Well Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne is a lot like Kaitou Saint Tail but the plot is SO much better... as is the character design and depth.

aye.. Honey & Clover is in my top 5 for post-2000 series....

I'm kind of disappointed you didn't think more highly of Azumanga Daioh but tastes differ since Naruto makes my eyes bleed. Mahoraba we appear to agree on. I'm always surprised when people compare it to Love Hina when there's very little in common --- Maisson Ikkoku is much more the parent of it.

A couple of short series I found nice: REC and Hanbu No Tsuki Ga Noboru Sora.

If you want something *really new* as in just started that *looks* like its going to rock: give The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya a look-see... at least two episodes before you decide.

More tentatively, I'd suggest Tsukuyomi Moon Phase but you'll decide to hate or love it within a few episodes --- its a strange mix of gothic tragedy and comedy.

Haibane Renmei
Juuni Kokuki
Ichigo Mashimaro
Mushishi
You can't go wrong with any of those, they rank among my top anime.

My pick of the just starting anime - Ouran Koukou Host Club

The only way you can possibly like it is if you have a thing for lolivampires. I happened to like it quite a bit up until the last few episodes

I second with Kamikaze Kaitou
scrapped princess - action fantasy genre
ashita no nadja - shoujo, adventure, comedy.

Try also some clamp's works like chobits, Angelic Layer and Tsubasa Chronicle

good suggestions, I liked ouran high school(really good first ep), gokujou, suzumiya, honey and clover, ichigo mashimaro. But what was episode 1 of suzumiya supposed to be? does it have any connections with ep 2.....

It's a video done by the characters, probably at the end of the anime...? The anime really starts at episodes 2, before any of the characters in the video had met each other. (did you notice the cat talking and how it looked like the one guy actually used some real power at the end of the video? I thought that was particularly intriguing)
