Any Deep Anime?

Well i just finished strawberry panic (huge disappointment), and was looking for anything really interesting with a deep plot and/or characters. Something as deep as Evangelion, creative as Suzumiya Haruhi, or intense as Elfen Lied. Anything really interesting out there with some good animation? Is higurashi or berserk any good?

I think he meant Futakoi Alternative. For a deep slice of life go get Honey & Clover, for a deep futuristic slice of life watch Planetes, and if you want a series where the depth is the equivilant of a bottomless pit and could also be labeled as a mindF**K then go find Serial Experiments Lain.

^ I've seen lain, i just couldn't get past the terrible character design, so anything deep with at least decent animation and characters is good, i'll go check out fukatoi. Anything else ppl?

Juuni Kokuki - interesting plot and deep characters

Berserk was intense... especially in the end.

Really? I thought it had a good character design. Anyway, hmm... Berserk huh, I like that animation but it's discontinued, so if incomplete is what you're looking for it's up there in the list. The manga is good, still running with more new characters than the anime.

I was going to recommend watching Haibane Renmei, but the character design is the same as Lain. Honey and Clover, the story is moderately deep but the characters are lovable.

Have you tried pokemon?

J/k Well deep story, I would have to go for Air tv series.

berserk totally kicked ass and i really liked the plot. The ending did suck but then you have the manga to read if you werent satisfied.

Gungrave is my 2nd favourite. good plot and excellent characters. gets a litte weird towards the end though. mostly about friendship/trust

monster had some really good characters and the plot was pretty interesting as well. its about a doctor trying to find and kill a genius serial killer.

death note is also pretty damn good and very interesting. i think its upto episode 10 right now. could become my fav anime if the rest is as good.

Actually i;ve seen renmei, and air, and enjoyed them both. I'm a hardcore eva fan, so by ep 14 of RahXephon, i couldn't take it anymore. Everything was EXACTLY the same, just lamer, i don't care what anyone says about it xD

As for berserk, do they wrap up the story by 25 in a crappy way, or is there just no ending at all?

Ok let's see, Berserk the animation ends like at ep 25 right, and that's like vol 5 or 10 in the manga. So far the manga is up to vol 32 and still going. So yeah the story is still going on.

I haven't seen the full animation only the last 4 eps (for some reason the animation drags while the manga goes at a faster pace), the manga is amazing, stick to the manga would be my recommendation.

Spoiler:

the anime does leave out a lot compared to the manga which is a lot better.
