Can't say I wasn't expecting this. XD They better make Kotomi a freaking god voice actress, though.
I can also say with complete certainty that season 2 will be liscenced, eventually. Can't only show 1/2 a story. XD

My only issue with DVD subs is the translation...
Of course, unlike Haruhi, this show doesn't use a lot of in-verse jargon, so subs should be relatively the same as the fan translations. Oh, and Sunohara better be voiced by Vic Mignogna. That would be awesome. |

Well, I don't think it will. I've just finished the Kanon dub recently and I was definitely very happy with it, and I hope they get the same director (Kyle Jones) for Clannad. I've got a bit of a stronger attachment to the Japanese VA's with Clannad, but I'm still really excited about Clannad getting a dub.
I'm really excited about the license in general, actually. Nice that it's finally happening, and just as I'm getting into more Clannad with After Story. I think, provided ADV gets the first series out without any problems, that the licensing of After Story will be a sure thing eventually. Looking forward to owning it all. |

Some people do like to watch both. I tend to anticipate watching dubs of series that I've previously seen fansubbed. That's the great thing about bilingual DVD's - don't like one track, then you can ignore it, and if you like both, then it's even more fun.

Well, this had been announced at a random con a few weeks back, so I'm not surprised, but at least now, we FINALLY have some official, undeniable proof. I, for one, am totally gonna buy the DVDs, as ADV did a great job with Air, and from what I heard, Kanon was done really well too, though I can't say for sure, as I didn't have time to buy the singles before ADV lost the rights. Anyway, I can't wait to see the show the way it's supposed to be, seeing how all the TV-broadcasts were flawed in one way or another.

Please no Vic I wnna punch that guy so hard in the face. I agree the translations fans provide I find are supieror than the ones that are on licensed versions. When watching Kanon I even noticed odd translations. It is also too bad that they don't have the quality of japanese DVD releases with goodies and pacaking. I own R1 and R2 air because the japanese ones are much more beautiful.
They just shouldn't realease a dub track IMO and release it as a big set. |
