hahahaha.
Watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann first and foremost if you haven't already. If you want to see something like NHK, read the novel as it's much better or read one of the writer's manga Negative Happy chainsaw Edge. Really, he's the only one who perfectly captured teh essence of the hikkikomori. If you just want another balls-tighteningly good psychological story, though, Paranoia Agent is great and while it's a lot more comedy than NHK, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is the only thing quite so black. As for Code Geass, I have a hard time deeing it as champion of anything but you'll probably love the hell out of Mai-HiME |

Last Exile - future/action/drama
Elfen Lied - drama/romance/psychological Nodame Cantabile - slice of life/drama/romance Daughter of Twenty Faces - action/drama Mushishi - slice of life/drama Kashimashi - romance/drama Ergo Proxy - scifi/tyranny/future/action/drama Paranoia Agent - psychological Fullmetal Alchemist - action/drama TTGL is another one fo those big names of recent times so maybe that, haven't seen any myself. As for Mai-Hime - I'd say no. Code Geass is very much the anti of Mai-Hime.

Honey and Clover - if you haven't already, similar to Nodame.
Natsume Yuujinchou - the only anime I find that exudes the same feeling as Mushishi. Scrapped Princess - I don't know, but I tend to equate it to Last Exile in a way. Excellent anime. Action/fantasy (for once, it's good fantasy)/sci-fic/sibling love/a bit of romance. Eureka Seven - if you haven't already. Similar to FMA in many aspects. Boy growing up, deep plot and great characters. Romance/action/comedy. Zegapain - emotionally evocative and can be quite psychologically challenging. Look past the flashy mechas as they aren't important in the whole scheme of the story. Watch till ep 4 at least to get some sense of the story (but there're plenty more surprises coming!). Death Note - if you haven't already. Detective Academy Q - like detective stories? if you like Death Note, might wanna give this one a try. More lighthearted but with carefully planned and difficult murder cases to solve. Genshiken - college type anime. |

I would suggest Mouryou no Hako to you, its not comedy but a serious series It is basically about 2 girls that fall in love with another but a lot of mystery is involved with it, one says that when she dies she will become the other in her next lifetime and the other simply falls in love with her, then the storyline changes to a more detective, supernatural aspect to uncover everything that is going on Another for your code geass category: Bounen no Xam'd/XamD lost memories a series of intellect not from the character but for the viewer because everything is very confusing in a good way, there are mechs in it, there's action and awesome character development. I highly recommend you watch this Both shows are currently airing Also if you want a cute romance/drama/comedy watch Fruits Basket something I didn't see on your list, you'll like it |

Try GTO
great teacher onizuka, is bit old but this is a legendary series. is comedy though. has elements of romance and psychology, but not heavy on it. is about this ex-gangster teacher. i won't say more since that might spoil. or Monster this too is extremely famous series Is not romance but it is bit heavy on psychology. i can't think of any psychological/romance, as there isn't very many of them. |

if you like Xam'd then watch the earlier requested Eureka 7, you will likey perhaps something to keep you occupied as well, Detroit Metal City (comedy but to the extreme XD really fun to watch) or a nice romance comedy, Fruits Basket. The comedy is really good in that one I bought the dvd's and its prob my favourite romance/comedy series I don't see Cowboy Beebop on your list either X3 |

You might want to take a look at the threads referenced here:
http://forums.animesuki.com/tags.php?tag=psychological I'd suggest Ghost Hound if you're interested in psychology.

Ok NOJOKE, give Deathnote a try if you havnt seen it. I dont know why most people dont even mention this. Death note and code geass and both on the top of the mountain for their own genre. Both have very good plot twists, amazing type comebacks and badass scenarios that play out and keep you amazed. Try out deathnote if you where in love with code geass.
Also I loved NHK also, conspiracy anime rocks especially when the main character is a neet. |

You know what? Give your mind a little respite. Let it think good thoughts. Let it think of the Great Dango Family that is Japan. Let your mind think of how nice it would be when Tomo-pyon, the Fujibayashi twins and Kotomi all appear at your doorstep to bring you lunch.
Yes, I'm talking about CLANNAD. It's wonderful. |
