drowned people, mermaids, aquatic creatures
What the title says. I mean fantasy stuff, also urban legends, contemporary fantasy, maybe horror or thriller, not a story about dolphins.
Lovecraftian sea creatures are also a good offer. Water demons, etc. Thanks in advance. |

you could try Bakemonogatari. doesnt really focus onwater creatures but it does pretty heavily focus on Japanese Urban Legends and curses. plus its just an overall great show.

The second arc of Mononoke ("Umebouzu") is probably right up your alley.
A bit less obviously relevant, Real Drive is about "diving" into "The Metal," a cyber-construct that is the equivalent of the ocean. It's hard to explain so you'll need to watch a couple of episodes. Water spirits play a major role in the plot of Seirei no Moribito, but the main characters are all human.

Mermaid Forest (anime series).- It has mermaids, fantasy and horror. Supposedly in this tale if you ate mermaid meat you would become immortal.Follows the story of a guy and a girl that are trying to become mortal again.
This will be the closest match to what you are looking for IMO. |
