Man, it's kind of surreal seeing Kazuya and Chizuru on a rental date again and Chizuru in "Mizuhara" mode, completely with efficiently getting the cash first thing .
Clothes shopping! Chizuru treating Kazuya to herself in a flashy and attractive outfit, complete with a short skirt! Dude can hardly take his eyes off her thighs. She's taking care of him on this date as much as he wants to take care of her . Kazuya knows Chizuru well enough to know she's a cineaphile who would love a good movie, and even if he doesn't get it, they get the theater to themselves, hold hands, and Chizuru enjoyed herself so I think he really nailed it on this part of their date . How much of this date is Chizuru as herself or Chizuru playing Mizuhara? Either way, she breaks character for a bit to thank Kazuya for all he's done for her and her grandma, and that he doesn't need to keep spending on her account. But Kazuya is doing this for himself, even if it's with the attention of helping Chizuru feel better even if she's projecting she's fine . Bouldering round 2! Now minus Ruka! And Kazuya just couldn't help but oggle Chizuru in her workout clothes, even if he wasn't prepared for all the contact they'd get into together while they were training (how many lewd shots of Chizuru can we fit into one sequence? Turns out a lot!). Of course he also stares at her butt too. But they both end up getting really into it and supporting each other, which was very sweet . Time for fancy crab! Kazuya's probably going to be flat broke by the end of this, huh? But it's all for a good cause! Even if Chizuru spotting a little girl with hre grandma passing her by makes her mask finally crack a little. But hey, Kazuya got to get treated to dinner with his "wife" so there is that . Closing out with fireworks! Cute and on-point season/date-wise! But it's then that Chizuru finally breaks, remembering the time she spent with both her grandparents lighting fireworks together. Is it finally time for Kazuya to step up and be there for her? What can he do ?

Neko Mizuhara is kinda scary in a good way. I liked the bouldering part the most once they got down to actually doing it. He had some great pointers which really helped her.
Despite her skepticism, it was the "perfect date" until that chance encounter with the kid and grandma at the crab restaurant. Kazuya couldn't have known, but that was the first trigger, and then the firework was the second trigger. The end where he saw her visibly shaking was very moving. Those sparkly fireworks no doubt were a source of happiness in her youth, but are a sad reminder of the two closest of kin she lost. I wonder how Kazuya will reel Mizuhara back to normalcy again after this scene. |

Chizuru's mask is starting to crack, but count on the professional actress to recover and put on her best face before she gets caught...though Kazuya now knows how much she's really struggling with her grief .
It's just too bad Kazuya's not the most ideal person to comfort her because he has so much insecurities and self-doubt that he has no idea what to do and just doesn't have the courage to really put himself out there, especially because he overthinks their relationship so much . All the same, if he can do anything, it's tell her what his ideal girlfriend is like...which is basically just Chizuru herself, and in doing so he tells her that he knows she's hurting and is just trying to plaster on a smile and hide it because that's the kind of person she is. And finally being confronted with the truth, and remembering how lonely she is without her grandparents, she can't control her emotions anymore and lets the tears loose as she grieves for both grandparents . Kazuya you probably could have gotten away with embracing her there...guess that's too much to expect from him . Well, count on Kazuya to be all neurotic and stressed about what happened and what his relationship with Chizuru is going to be like. At least he's now confirmed 100% that he loves her, and can't live without her, even if he doesn't have the guts to admit it . Mini just slipping into his apartment so she can get the deets on what happened! She seems pretty pleased with how he handled things even if she's the only one who can see the obvious need for him to make a move and start transitioning past their rental relationship. But Kazuya still needs some work . Kazuya got all worked up about what things are going to be like between them and Chizuru is back to business and asking for advice on what color dress to wear to the premier. But behind closed doors she's admitted everything to her grandparents and is practically gushing about Kazuya to them ! I'm glad the premier went well. And Chizuru is still going to keep acting, both out of respect for her grandparents and because she genuinely enjoys it, and she seems really happy. And she doesn't mind Kazuya's company at all . Checking off with the rest of the cast...Ruka sporting a maid outfit for Kazuya, Sumi cuteness while walking her dog, Mini posing in a China dress, and Kibe meeting Kazuya's grandma...who is meeting with Mami!? WHAT IS MAMI PLANNING!? Is she planning something while Kazuya and Chizuru are enjoying themselves? Has this been what she's been up to all season !?

Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 3. Final Thoughts
We can all blame Kazuya on his annoying habit at overworshipping Chizuru to toxic levels.
Spoiler:
Overall, the strong point for this season was making the movie arc climaxing with Chizuru saying farewell to her grandma and concluding with her breaking-off her mask temporarily to reveal her emotions to Kazuya for a brief moment. BTW, why I have the feeling this is as far as the show would progress? Unless Mami-chan's appearance towards the end of this season finale indicates otherwise. Nonetheless, it is not farfetch'd to fathom that a fourth season could be in the horizon. |

Actually my highest for this series; the first two being a 4 and 5.
This season felt a bit more serious, one episode in particular. The finale was a let down, he failed to seize the opportunity again, it was practically an invitation to become a reliable partner...and the next scene was him in his room being a complete moron. 6/10
