Yu Yu Hakusho is pretty much my favorite anime, and yeah, it is the best shounen fighter series by far.
I really enjoy Bleach, and am a big fan, but it aint in the same league. Hell, Bleach even blatantly copies YuYu(Bounto arc) in some instances. |

Oh yea, This was a fun one. I primarily remember this one on adult swim and later toonami in english. I liked how they used the character archetypes and the overall pacing of the show helped keep it enjoyable. It kinda miffed me that it fell into the whole tournament cliche around the middle but this was a 90s jump title so what are ya gonna do. Too bad the casual fanbase dried up on CN, if licenced earlirer it could have been a great companion show to DBZ, like it was in japan at the time. The dub did a good job in really selling it to the casual audience too (it was overall ok, but the leads were GREAT!) Also nice touch on redubbing the songs (even though i like the originals better)

Your guys discussion has made me want to rewatch this great series! I remember watching it through a couple years ago, and man, the fights were great and I definitely laughed at all of Kuwabara's freaking dumb comments. This is definitely a good one =)

YUYUHAKUSO cantonese
id like to ask, why do a number of anime cantonese series redo the anime series when they have been done? i remember one episode of ranma they redid it with different voice actors, same as YUYUHAKUSO, there are two versions of differwnt voice actors, on tv i watched one that when up half way, then today i downloaded the series and the voices of the series are completel;y differnt.

I just finished re-watching it and forgot how awesome it was <3
I don't know how much the manga and anime are different because I haven't read much of the manga. But from what I've seen from summaries and what not the anime seems to follow it really well. I've only read up to the part with Yukina and the only difference I see in the anime is they put in a couple more scenes of Hiei, but that's nothing bad :3 |

It was an ok shounen / tournament anime... the plot was a good one and the characters too but i think they made too many episodes of it >.< 3 similar tournaments is too much to watch no matter how you change the enemies.... and worst of all, the only thing that changes on Yusuke's side is the amount of reiki/yoki he has... not a single new technique or whatsoever.
I didnt like how they managed the romance (yusuke/keiko) either... how many minutes of "romance" was there in the whole series of 112 episodes? all i remember from Keiko is she saying "...yusuke...". |

I think one of the best anime episodes ever was his fight with Kaguro (kaguro? something like that?), episode 109: Love and War,at the end of the three kings saga, on one of the last tournaments. Great character dynamics and devolopment. i watched that episode in Japanese as well as in English and it's just SO good. It becomes clear that Hiei and the woman like each other but everything is so subtle that the romance doesn't get sappy. Also, when she points out that he was looking for himself all along... And how he falls on her arms at the end of the fight! And they communicate through their moves... Genius. |
